Greetings in the name of JAH RASTAFARI~ Mek wi give thanks and praises to the most High. Papa Pilgrim became a special friend to Brother Ricky and I through the past years. PP, Wendi and I connected first in Salt Lake since I travelled there often on business. Each time, I always looked forward to having a special vegetarian dinner with PP and Wendi at one of their favorite spots. PP invited me to be a guest on his radio show, a special treat for someone like myself. PP and Wendi always invited me to their home and we would gaze at the beautiful back yard. PP was very proud of the lovely natural setting they created with various plants and landscaping. The last time I was there, I distinctly remember PP telling me about the pleasure he got watching the geese fly over his house at the end of summer on their way south. Papa Pilgrim was a naturalist and loved the music in a way that became his vision for life. PP (I always remember him signing his emails to me just PP) and Wendi came through Austin a few years ago and we all sat in the back yard watching Ricky construct fishing traps, sitting on the ground, with a spliff in his mouth and pliers in his hand. PP and Wendi reasoned and watched with great patience and overstanding. Later, we all went down to town lake to see the bats come out from under the bridge. Their company inspired much joy just being around their love for each other. Papa Pilgrim was more than a reggae ambassador. He represented humanity for what it is. He taught me that life can be challenging, difficult, often encompassing many brick walls~ but through the joy of righteousness and love, we can make our heaven on earth. Papa Pilgrim is opening the gates for us all to one day follow. May his bright light always shine through iternity. Papa Pilgrim, a papa to many and a pilgrim for reggae music.
