Joel Spencer, 2003-2007 multi-Annual Report DJ & Label Coordinator Aside from my role as a voting member of the Board of Directors over the years (from the Conference period in ’03 up through the ByLaws’ development process) - as well as a colorful participant in the Forum banter – each year proceeded roughly as this most recent year, during which I sent out 24 new DJ & Label packets, as well as 40 new membership cards. 2007 was a relatively slow year with very few inquiries from the massive fielded. The primary duties of DJ/Label Coord are to send out new membership packets to DJ/Label signups. Tom sends out a list of new members and updated member info on a regular basis, and I pull the DJs/Labels from that and mail them individually. I also field questions from DJs and Labels, as well as artists etc looking to network with DJs/Labels. This usually entails pointing folks in the right direction or sending them an updated list of the member database if the inquirer is also a RAW member. Thirdly, DJs email their playlists to me, which I gather and send off to Rootsmon Bird for compiling in the Bubblers lists. Lastly - and I'm not sure this was a part of the job before (but there's no reason it shouldn't be) - I work with the printing company who makes the RAW membership cards to get cards for new and renewing members, and then I mail those cards out to the members. I spend money on postage, envelopes and primarily printer cartridges. It's minimal amount that is reimbursed by RAW, although admittedly that only happens if you bother to send in the expense report, which I've neglected to do for probably going on five years or so now! (Sorry, Joanie!) Lastly, the Coordinator is also responsible for updating the information in the new member packs, which really should be done again and is one of the things I most regret not having had the time to do yet.
