[2]--------------------------------------------------------------------- >From: Iverdeva@aol.com From: Soul Majestic # 1680 Subject: Soul Majestic December newsletter Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 06:14:44 EST Soul Majestic December newsletter Greetings to all Soul Majestic friends, family, and fans, Thanks to all the people that came out to support Soul Majestic and Rocker-T during this last U.S. west coast fall 2002 Tour. During the four weeks that we were journeying on the great highways and byways of North America's west coast, Soul Majestic had the pleasure of befriending many new and beautiful people and enjoyed playing at some crucial new venues. To those who did'nt make any of the shows, you were in our thoughts. And to all the people in San Diego and Southern Cal that were unable to see us due to an unfortunate cancellation in San Diego, we assure you that we will be back in your area soon. As far as my favorite show of the tour, it's a tough decision, but it had to be our home town of Santa Cruz, CA. The crowd was pumped that night, and it was clear that the hometown posse was happy to have us back. After Soul Majestic gave them a good hour-long set, capped off by a sizzling encore of "Conqueror," Rocker-T and the Soul Majestic rhythm section kept the vibes high with a powerful set including many new songs off the upcoming "More Luv" release. Thanks to PSM Recordings, Drew, Jah Minds Eye Sounds, Ras Lou-I, and Rocker-T for a successful tour. We are currently working on a short documentary of this last tour that will soon be posted on our web site. What's Next? Well, so far we are enjoying the time off, but to give you a heads up there's talk of another tour with Rocker-T in February 2003, with the additions of Colorado and Arizona. In January and throughout the beginning of the new year you can also expect to see us playing around the greater California area at such venues as Moe's Alley and the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, 19 Broadway in Fairfax, SoHo or The Absinth in Santa Barbara, The Redwood Pub in Garberville, and a new spot in Soledad. You can also check our web site www.soulmajestic.com and toll free hotline # 866.372.9033 for upcoming shows and events. Great News! We just found out that our album has been #1 on a radio station in Guam. It has been at #1 for a few months. Lalibela wishes to thank all who came out in support at Shine in NYC on November 17. We are currently booking the band and look forward to meeting and greeting all the fans. Special thanks going out to the musicians...Courtney, Robbie, Gene, Brian, Jillian, Don, Pam, Jenny, and E-Jah. Big up General Smiley for his solid performance as always. DJ Floydie Ranks, Dub poet Ras Fikre, background singers Geraldine and Debbie...thank you all! Jahri...you're the best! Remember, the CD can be purchased at http://www.reggaecd.com or write to us at info@upfulonerecords.com We are currently working with a distributor in Canada and hope to get the CD in stores everywhere very soon. More thanks going out to Chuck Foster from The BEAT Magazine for his review in the recent "Reggae Update" column. For those who haven't seen it yet, you can read it right here...... "What a surprise when I dropped LALIBELA's Black Son Rising (Upful One) to hear a full band sound with tight arrangements, solid instrumentalization and vibrant vocals. Singers Roy "Jahri" Walters and Terry King trade lead vocals throughout and their individually distinctive treatments along with the professional (and professionally recorded) music call to mind the likes of Third World, Blue Riddim or Misty in Roots. Short bursts of dancehall dj stylings keep it contemporary and help to pump the excitement. Among the best cuts are "Reggae Revelation", "Mighty Lion", and "Seize This Opportunity". Interestingly all the songs are written by Jillian Wess, the keyboard player and executive producer. R&B and gospel underpinnings-check "Emotional"--they also cop to jazz, funk, and just a hint of rock and roll on "It's Not My Style". A superb first outing from a band to watch for--I can't wait to see them live"....Chuck Foster News from UPFUL Productions inc......Producer Jillian Wess and General Smiley are currently in the studio working on the new cd for the General to be completed within the coming months. Nuff respect to Dr. Dread and the crew at RAS Records for their love and support of General Smiley. We plan on bringing you one wicked cd with some very special guest artists to include Yami Bolo. Others will be announced shortly. Until next time....
