PLEASE! Date: Friday, August 01, 2003 5:28 AM From: "Tom Pearson" Greetings all! In recent days I have seen a marked increase of submissions for our newsletter "Wha Gwaan in RAW?" that do NOT follow the guidelines suggested, and which have been announced many times. I will REPEAT! Wha Gwaan in RAW? is a strictly TEXT-BASED newsletter. Since we must send out to members of varying computer capabilities, it is necessary to restrict submissions to TEXT ONLY. That means no graphics, color, sound, bells or whistles. No attachments! Anything sent with the above-mentioned extras will be returned to the sender, and WILL NOT BE INCLUDED in WGIR Also, today I received at least four messages submitted in HTML format. Now I realize how cool such announcements can be, but unfortunately, none of those extras (i.e. bolding, italics, underlining, etc) will show up in WGIR, and before I can send a message to Eric for inclusion in WGIR, I have to go through and delete all those commands. That means deleting every
,  , , etc. This is a very time consuming task, and one which I am simply no longer able to do. I have NO idea how messages are sent in HTML, I just know we can't receive them. If you are sending a message in HTML, I will, from this moment forward, return it to you, and ask you to re-send the message in basic no-frills text. So the basic rule for WGIR submissions is: TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT and NOTHING ELSE! Contact: RudeGal (rudegal@rudegal.com) 909-227-7833 Ce'Cile, one of the few women in Dancehall, is continuously recognized for her releases. Since her self-produced marketing gimmicky tune, "Changez" hit the streets of Jamaica, she's consistently taken well thought out steps to solidifying her career in every way from her website, songs she records, shows she performances at, riddims she's produced with Skatta and her own debut album. Lickshott is delighted to announce that Ce'Cile has signed an album deal with Delicious Vinyl Records as well as a management deal with Lickshott Inc (a partnership formed between Leslie Cooney and RudeGal). The record company, Delicious Vinyl, is based in Los Angeles and is responsible for the debut success of Born Jameircans, Brand New Heavies, Pharcyde, Tone Loc and Young MC. A cutting edge company with bold instincts, Delicious Vinyl is particularly eager at the prospect of introducing Ce'Cile into the American market and aiding her ascent to the top. Her highly anticipated debut album, "Bad Gyal" will see a fall 2003 release. With so many great singles already recorded and released such as; "Can You Do The Wuk" with Sean Paul on Jeremy Harding's Liquid riddim, "Honey" on the Clappas riddim, "Weh U Up To" on the Forensic, "Cherry Pie" on the producer Call Me Shams (Richard Browne's) Juice riddim, "Some Bwoy" on the 20 Cent riddim and "Thinking Of It" on the Jumbie, slimming down her album tracks has happily proved to be quite a task. This debut album, BAD GYAL is a careful selection of strong songs that are both reflective of her personality and flexibility as an artist and even include some of her own production. Such songs slated for the album include; "Lovin It" from England based producer Frenchie, "Murder", "Give It To Me" on the new Salsa riddim (Big Yard/Christopher Birtch), "Lift Me Up & Drop Me" on the Tai Chi, "Do Me Dat" and more! Currently Ce'Cile is recording a video in Jamaica for local support of the new tune "Bare As She Dare" on producer Skatta's Coolie Dance riddim. There is also talk of recording a video for support of her feature on KC Jockey's "Gwan Hype" tune for his Gwan Hype riddim/Sweet Sadies Productions release. In addition, she's wrapping up the final tracks for the album. Kicking off album promotions, Ce'Cile will be performing at IRIE JAMBOREE on August 24th - sponsored by Irie Jam and Power 105. She'll be joining a strong cast of stars including; Baby Cham, Cobra, Lexxus, Lukie D, Mr. Easy, Mr. Vegas, Richie Stevens, Sean Paul, Tony Curtis, WARD 21, Wayne Marshall and Vybz Kartel. Irie Jamboree is taking place at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens New York. For more information on Ce'Cile you can visit her website www.cecileflava.com. Tanto Metro&Devonte Hey Girl Big Yard NEW TUNES STORM NM REGGAE DANCEHALL CHARTS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST !!!!!!!! A massive 12 new tunes entered the NM Charts this month as the hard-core riddims out of Kingston are finally shaping up for 2003, after a somewhat disappointing start in my eyes. There are finally a good number of them runnin' things including EGYPTIAN, CARIBBEAN STYLE, 20 CENTS & BAGHDAD. It looked as if Mr.Dutty Cup was never going to give up the pole-position again, after 3 consecutive months at the top, yet the prophet Capleton finally managed to topple him. He did so on the title track of the BAGHDAD riddim, on which he spits pure fire; " Babylon dem a fight over oil, whole heap 'a money dem a spend pon missile!!!" Stonelove's BAGHDAD came roaring into NM, just as predicted last month, charting 5 other times in the form of Wayne Marshall's fine "All Night Long" at #3, Elephant's "Jamaican Girl"(based on a Brian & Tony Gold tune from the early 90's) at #9, Bounty's "Plenty Gal" at #11 and Cecile's "Bring The Money Come". Queen Paula also charted on the original hip-hop version of the riddim called SNAKE with her HUGE x-rated "Signal Di John Remix". South Rakkas CLAPPAS continues to remain ever-popular in NM with 2 tracks still in the charts. A hype, fast beat entitled 20 CENTS has also taken hold, which is surprising as it is quite hard-core for the NM dancehalls, yet it has come accross very well. Check the Lady Saw & TOK tracks for August. The DIWALI is experiencing yet another re-surgence, courtesy of the HOT "No Letting Go Remix" featuring LL Cool Jay, Duchess aka Sasha and Wayne Wonder, while Sean Paul's "Get Busy" continues to hang tight. The DIWALI has therefore been continually represented on this chart for well over a year, which has to be record-setting. I will check it out for next month. Beenie Man's "Gal Dem Ignition" remix is doing well out here in bad-man territory, as is the SEXY LADY riddim featuring superstars like Sean Paul, Shaggy, Will Smith & Tanto & Devonte. On the rootical front Sanchez still a run tings. Not only did he enter the brand-new "Superstar" at #18 but he also charted with "Frenzy" at #8 and "War" at #9. As if that wasn't enough he also has two more guns entitled "World Peace" and "Stay With Me" bubbling under. Buju charted this time on the JAVA riddim: "If Jah Was Like Man". Until next month: Jah bless: Don Martin. *********************************************************************** In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty Forward the Reggae Vibe...Every Time !
