There is a major article on Mark Mohr, Christafari and Lion of Zion Entertainment. Spread the news, gospel reggae is finally getting the respect that it deserves! After a four year hiatus, Christafari is back with "Gravity"--their first new studio release since 1999's WordSound&Power. The CD debuted last week at #15 on Billboard's Top Reggae Albums Chart, and this week jumps to #10. The strong debut proves that their fan base was ready and waiting to welcome them back, which should be no surprise with Reggae music infiltrating the mainstream with such artists as Shaggy, Sean Paul, and former Christafari tour-mate Wayne Wonder. With the popularity of the genre on the rise, and with demand for more culturally relevant music increasing, Nashville-based record label Lion of Zion Entertainment is launching their biggest promotional campaign ever, including publicity and radio promotion to Gospel and General Market formats, 10-city in-store promotional tour, and a world tour planned for fall, including stops at Frizon Festival in Sweden, Flevo Festival in The Netherlands, and Greenbelt Festival in the U.K this August. Gravity was released worldwide on June 10th by Lion of Zion Entertainment, and is distributed by Butterfly International Distribution, Navarre, and other international distributors including CMC, Latin Door Music Distribution, and Spirit UK. Christafari R.A.W. # 304 www.christafari.com www.lionofzion.com [4]--------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Subject: DUBWIZE Reggae Music SNWMF Date: Friday, June 27, 2003 4:54 AM Hello again RAW people. So many positive people out there. Each of your responses was answered and appreciated. What a wonderful world this can be. Another nice story regarding DUBWIZE and the SNWMF (SNWMF - Sierra Nevada World Music Festival June 20,21,22) What a festival!! Good weather, good crowd - but not too crowded like other years and clean outhouses! ...and Dubwize played till 4:30 am/daylight Saturday night/Sunday morning, in the campgrounds, waiting to start till all music inside had completed so to respect the other musicians and festival crew. And many of you shared it with them. It was irie all night. And what was extra cool were the musicians that also stopped in that evening and joined in, and it was as though they had been playing together with DUBWIZE for a lifetime, when in fact it was the first time, totally spontaneous, and without any rehearsal. Shawna, from Groundation, sang and it sounded like an angel of music had stopped in. With Dubwize with her, she truly sounded like an angel effortlessly releasing the spiritual beauty through music. It sounded as though her voice was being controlled by the Dubwize sound because it was in perfect sync, and it almost makes us think that it must have been rehearsed, but even rehearsed music doesn't sound the way it was, so we'll give it back to you, the people who shared it with us, for bringing the inspiration to create such a vibe. Nate, from Dub Congress, stepped in and sang in good form as always. Rasta Jon, from De La Roots, sat in on drums and delivered some of the most steady and inspirational rhythms ever played towards those mountains beyond in all the years of the festival there. Balboa, on trombone, who plays with Don Carlos, Yami Bolo and other world class reggae artists, joined in with effortless but incredible skills and sweetened the sound and added even more richness to a delivery of music that we thought was already maxed, and it lifted Skinner, the Dubwize melodica player, to deliver some sounds that are still traveling and swooshing around within our own bodies after all these days since the festival. Apologize for not getting the names of the next two individuals, but a poet joined in and added interesting variation on what had come before and his buddy sat in on drums and added power and surprising control to expand the boundaries of music we got to experience that evening, and all with the trademark of the Dubwize heart and the energy of life that they generate and reach in us. The roots reggae music traveled within each variation and evolved that evening and morning. It was an experience, a blessing and an event for all of us. And even for those at the festival who weren't among us, the word got out about something very special that had happened and it added a warm glow across the whole festival and became a bit of the heart that was shared and delivered without schedule or boundaries or fees, the way things may have been when the earth itself delivered the possibilities of how we could spend our time in this beautiful place. Thanks to the many hundreds of people who stopped in and shared/created the experience. Stories are coming back to us from so many people's perspectives and each is different, but all share the glowing love and warmth that was shared that evening in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Quite a shared experience! - welcome!!! * DUBWIZE * July 5, SATURDAY NIGHT, 9:00 pm - 2:00 am RETURNING TO PIER 23 SATURDAY NIGHT, JULY 5 4th OF JULY WEEKEND LIVE REGGAE MUSIC PIER 23 CAFÉ - SAN FRANCISCO 23 EMBARCADERO, 1 MILE SOUTH OF FISHERMAN'S WHARF. $8 at the door (21 & over).
