(fwd) Date: Thursday, November 20, 2003 5:29 PM [7]------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- >From Positive Sound Massive (#194) Subject: Cyber Remix for Peace - Only 10 days left!!! Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2003 13:30:42 -0800 From: Steffen Franz Greetings RAW Massive- The reason that I am writing this to RAW and it's members directly is that I feel RAW has always been a source of great talent in the world's vast reggae music scene, and it has always involved itself, and it's members in good networking, and great promotional programs. I am a part of one such project that could really use the help and support of the entire RAW Membership. The project is called the "Cyber Remix for Peace", a remix contest open to everyone, supported and funded by Positive Sound Massive Recordings and Olive Tree Music LTD, an independent record label based in Cyprus. This idea was inspired by Angie Bowie, who mentioned the concept a few months ago, and we took the idea and ran with it. This contest is a chance for everyone in the world, who has faced division in their own life, or who has seen other people's division, and using music as a common platform, written lyrics or a poem about that struggle. This contest began October 15th, 2003, and we have had almost 1000 visitors to the site so far. So many visitors in fact that we extended the contest's original November 15th, 2003 deadline. All in all we have had about 200 people download elements, and we hope many plan to submit a remix or a track before the contest ends on December 1st, 2003. The reason I write this to you now is that with the end of the contest only 10 days away, we have not seen any RAW Members submit as of yet. I wondered why since RAW is such a strong and positive group of Artists, DJs, Producers, and Labels, who for the most part are interested in social change through music. We have to start somewhere, and I thought going into this, that RAW and it's membership was going to be a major part of this groundbreaking effort. Please check out the website @ www.peaceremix.com for all of the background details, and contest rules and deadlines. We are hoping to have over 100 submissions in all when the contest ends, and it would be a shame not to see any RAW folks represented when we play the final submissions to the UN in a few weeks. It seems as if RAW could and should be one of the main bodies represented. Indeed, RAW is the foundation that helped form Poetz4Peace, the group of Poetz, Singers, Musicians and Producers, who's song "Down By the Greenline" is what the entire "Remix for Peace" contest is based on. Please check out the website for more details and also please pass this on to any and all other Artists, Producers, DJs, or Poets who you think might be interested in participating in this "one of a kind" and maybe "once in a lifetime" project. We look forward to hearing any and all of your submissions. http://www.peaceremix.com Thanks in advance for your time and as always Respect... As a new R.A.W. member my aim is to promote the vacation rental of my ocean view villa situated in the Silver Sands beach front community. Villa Seagull is one mile from Duncans and is next to Duncans Bay village, eight miles from historic Falmouth and forty-five minutes from both Montego Bay and Ocho Rios in the beautiful parish of Trelawny. The location is ideal for trips to the Cockpit Country, Reggae Sumfest (and the numerous other music and film festivals) 9 Mile or Ocho Rios. This 3 bedroom 2 bath home sleeps a maximum of 6 and is found in a gated community which is adjacent to "Fisherman's Beach" - the base for local artisans, musicians and naturally, fisherman. Beyond this is sparsely populated bush country with access to an ancient Arawak cave where historic tales abound. The veranda of Villa Seagull features a 180 degree ocean view and is one minute from the beach. It also has a private breakfast patio in the rear that looks out on fruit trees and other exotic Jamaican flora. Activities abound and they include; relaxing at the villa which has an eclectic Caribbean art collection and learning about Jamaican cuisine and culture as you enlist the services of an excellent Jamaican cook and property manager. Outside you can enjoy snorkeling, tennis, hiking, biking, boat rental, and birdwatching. Golf courses and scuba diving are a cab ride away. Beach-side at Silver Sands, there is a classic beach bar, small restaurant, guest game room and weekly karaoke parties. There is a gift shop/canteen and a small tourist office that can assist in travel plans. Silver Sands is one of Jamaica's finest "silver sand" beaches with all the amenities of a rootsy private beach club. The jetty has a breathtaking Caribbean-style gazebo for irie meditation. Silver Sands, and Duncan's Bay are tranquil and sleepy areas without much tourist traffic....perfect for chillin'. 15% discount to all R.A.W. members Inquire to Trudie Webster, RAW #1798 for pictures, rates and more information. E-mail: twebster@indra.com or call (303)444-6200 anytime before 10pm Mountain Central Time. *********************************************************************** In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty Forward the Reggae Vibe...Every Time !
