[2]------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- >From Jeanette Smith (#1421) Subject: Mikey General's Tour Journal -- Stone Tiger 'Dis & 'Dat (09-09-03) Date: Tue, 9 Sep 2003 23:51:51 -0400 From: Stone Tiger Stone Tiger 'Dis & 'Dat (09-02-03) Greetings, It's been a wonderful tour and Mikey General's final two tour entries are available on our site at http://www.stonetiger.net with an excerpt below. Our distributor just went through a major transition but Lehbanchuleh's "Claim the Joy" and Mikey General's "Exalt Jah" will be available through Trans World Entertainment Shops including Spec's, Camelot, Saturday Matinee, Record Town, FYE, Disc Jockey, Strawberries, & Coconuts by the end of the week. If you don't see them on the shelf, please ask for them as they will be accessible through their computer systems or visit our site for other shops in your area as well as on-line retailers that you may contact. Exciting new things in the works are a Stone Tiger 2003 Sampler which is back by popular demand as so many djs loved last year's edition and the wonderful combination of Admiral Tibet, Lehbanchuleh, Edi Fitzroy, Terry Ganzie, and Mikey General. Look forward to tracks from the Abyssinians and one to two new artists as well. Also, Stone Tiger, in partnership with AMEC Group, will be releasing a compilation cd from these outstanding artists as well as a hip hop remix of the always current "Princess Black" from Edi Fitzroy to be produced by Steve Anderson. We've just added some interesting links to articles from our site that you might enjoy at http://www.stonetigerentertainmentgroup.com/articles.html -- "Questioning the Delphic Oracle," "The Third Eye Mystery" & "Dare to Dread" -- and will be adding Mikey General's Reading List from his tour later this week. Mikey, an avid reader, has enjoyed some wonderful spiritual volumes during this two month tour. Enjoy as divine reasoning is indeed the highest form of prayer. Blessings. On the Road With Mikey General -- full journal available at http://www.stonetigerentertainmentgroup.com/blogger.html [Atlanta & St. Petersburg available on the site] ... We left St. Petersburg early in the morning as it was a day off and we were driving to South Carolina, where we reached about ten o'clock in the night. We rested as we didn't have any show that night so everyone was able to do their own little personal things that needed to be done. As the tour is winding down now, everybody is starting to buy their gifts and clothing and things for their families so some went to the mall, some to Walmart, some to Best Buy, and some to all over just to get themselves ready because Monday coming, they'll be on their way back to Jamaica.... [Charleston & Durham available on the site] ... Winston-Salem, North Carolina is a very special place. It's the first time that I've been there but Luci's second time. It seems to be a Rasta city as Rastas from everywhere were there. After holding a meditation during the day, we left for the show at eleven o'clock. As the venue was close to the hotel,we could easily walk to the show. The venue's name was Ziggys and it was very much like something that you would see in Negril, Jamaica. The place was full - ram-jammed with people and from the minute the show started, there were cheers all the way. Dean Fraser blew "Redemption Song" and brought down the house. I followed and some of the road crew said that was one of the best performances that they saw from me all the tour because I really gave it to the crowd - it was an outpouring of my soul for the people. I could feel the love and energy from the minute I hit the stage until the last song. Luciano followed after and he gave a superior performance calling on stage Robert Roskind who gave a moving speech about Jamaica, reggae and Rastafari, in general. The show finished with a bang and we were on hand to sign autographs and shake the hands of the people that were there. It certainly was a joyous occasion. The next day we traveled to Norfolk, Virginia where we performed at Norva. We didn't have any hotel that night because we were leaving right after the show to Washington but the Norva is a very nice venue with nice dressing rooms, catering, pool tables and a shopping mall right in front so the girls could go and shop and we were able to go upstairs, play some pool, relax ourselves and just generally hold a vibe . The show started at about ten-thirty to a half full house but the vibes were very high. Again, I must say, that the band seems to get better all the time - I guess it really is true that practice makes perfect because they were really kicking up a storm. The crowd was very receptive from the start of the show to the finish and it was another endorsement that the work we are doing is truly the work of the Almighty. The show finished at one o'clock and we were able to sign some autographs before we boarded the bus to drive straight to Washington.... [DC available on the site] ... All in all, I can say that it was a very successful tour as we found out that many more acts were on the road and some of them didn't complete their tour schedules but we were able to so it was very good for us and strengthened us more that we were doing good works out there. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played a very important part in the tour. I'd like to thank Peter Schwartz from the Agency Group for arranging the tour, Mr. Copeland Forbes and Mr. Dean Fraser for running a tight ship, the JahMessenjah Band for being very professional, and Luciano for being spiritual and strengthening I and I. I'd also like to thank Jeanette Smith from Stone Tiger Entertainment for the hard work she has been doing in letting people get this journal. I'd like to thank Sista Irie for the support and all the radio djs out there who were at hand to support us and all of you readers of the journal. I hope that you found something in it that would lift your soul to a higher place. And I'd also like to thank the audience and the fans out there for being so receptive to us and to the message. May the Almighty bless and keep you and may the words of Rastafari ring true in your heart. Please continue to support Stone Tiger Entertainment Group and its artists with our new albums (http://www.stonetiger.net) and look out for a new album by Mikey General soon called "Red, Gold, and Green" to be released by VP Records later this year. And remember Luke 17:21, "Behold the kingdom of Jah is within." Thank you very much and God bless until next time. And a wonderful welcome to ... * Matt Potter from Iron Lion Design, our new webmaster, who can be reached at http://www.stonetigerentertainmentgroup.com/supportingcast.html -- Matt is an outstanding web designer and is available for outside projects. * Steve Anderson from AMEC Group, our distributor, who is available for distribution, production and consulting work. His contact information will be added to http://www.stonetigerentertainmentgroup.com/supportingcast.html later this week. The best is yet to come! Opening in Boston & VT will be Dub Station, featuring Senegalese reggae artist I Rebel Soul & Jamaican cultural DJ Nachilus Kezuk Other New England dates: Thursday, September 11 @ the Iron Horse in Northampton Friday, September 12 @ the Ocean Mist in Rhode Island Saturday, September 13 @ the Rusty Nail in Stowe, Vermont Thursday, September 18 @ the Atlantic Connection on Martha's Vineyard BIO INFORMATION Hailing from the the Golden Era of Roots Reggae, the ITALS' harmonies first hit the charts with "In a Dis Ya Time" (1975). Described by Keith Richards as "the perfect reggae track," he made sure the song was included in the Rolling Stones' Artist Choice CD (released 2003), available through Starbucks Coffee from Hear Music, a division of EMI (as well as in selected, major chains). As the 70's turned into the 80's & 90's, classic albums like "Brutal Out Deh" and "Rasta Philosophy" delivered cultural hymns by the dozen, catapulting the "Give me Power" LP to #1 on CMJ's "Reggae Route" chart. Pollstar selected the ITALS among their top 100 artists in 1985. And the group has performed throughout the world, including at Reggae Sunsplash. The ITALS' current CD highlights lead vocalist and founder Keith Porter. "Mi Livity" is being released during the course of the 2003 tour which is taking the group across America on dozens of well-received dates. Audiences can look forward to the same, solid harmonies that put the ITALS in the ranks of the Mighty Diamonds and Culture in the first place. Do try to make as many of the dates as you can - catch the Ital vibration! Date: Tue, 09 Sep 2003 22:18:48 -0700 From: "I.M. Coyote" Greetings from the Waiiling Coyotes posse. Just returning from a fun filled weekend in Flagstaff, Az. The annual Legends of Rasta reggae festival made its maiden voyage into this uncharted teritory. Uncharted it was, no one ever told Sirron the promoter it tends to rain almost every afternoon in Az during monsoon season. Thus the first day started under dark skies, the Wailing Coyotes had the honor of starting the festival in their home turf playing some native roots reggae with a few jams for the few grateful dread fans. Next up the new band of Native musicians Dawa "sun" in Hopi. THis is a very promising band and have a good thing going with there funky native rock. Next up was Kindread playing some rootical versions, still under dark skies I retreated to my motel room and when I checked in a giant thunderstorm pummelled the town. Needless to say when I got back to the grounds they cancelled the rest of the day because of the flooded stage. The next day proved very promising with sunny skies and billowy clouds. Very Irie the way it should have been. Once again the Wailing Coyotes mashed it up with Culture Clive from Jamaican stepping up to chant some stylee. NExt up Dawa again performing for a much larger crowd than the day before. Next up came Dee Dread and Zion Nights from the Cayman Islands always irie inna Bob Marley style. Next up Burning Sky a native ensemble made up of flute and 2 guitars jamming some contemporary native vibes. to my delight they played a great rendition of Neil Young's Rockin in the Free World, very nice. Next on bat Reggae Angels some crucial Northern California reggae sounds. In my opinion the best band of the weekend, next to the Waiiling Coyotes of course. To'ho is a madman on the bassie and the vocalist kept sending vibe after vibe, very uplifting. Next up Philly Blunt band doing some reggae style R&B classics and a Bob song for good measure by this time my ride back to Phoenix was leaving so alas I missed Casper the native roots rocker. Howev Per I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was pooped the next day to the chagrin of my boss. Unfortunately the attendance was low due to the weather however there was nuff reggae vibes there to keep the vibes going into the future. Looking foward to next year mid summer preferably. Jah Bless. Tyler-Wailing Coyotes. P.S. Next stop Tempe Az Sept 20-21. featuring Waiiing Coyotes and much more.
