Theft or Carelessness? Date: Sat, 21 Aug 2004 14:21:44 -0700 Greets Anyone get the new CD single release of Buju Banton's "Magic City"? How did you like the cover picture close-up of Buju? Well I loved it and hated it, both.... why? Because... IT WAS A PICTURE I TOOK, but get NO credit for!!! Wildseed Communications is ignoring my questions, Gargamel Music hasn't replied either, so I'm trying to get in touch with Buju himself or the band (drummer). If anyone has a contact number or email addie, please forward that to the I. :-) This is only another reason why I don't post pictures I've taken on the web anymore... Everyone loves to steal or use without permission... this even includes RAW members! Simply asking first would be nice. I'm sure Buju has no idea about this, but I think he'd like to know about it. This was a successful exciting full night out in London; fans were dancing, screaming and blowing whistles as they were treated to a rare night of pure Mikey Dread in East London. Next: Mikey and The Dread at The Controls Band were off to Glastonbury where it had rained heavily, but as they arrived and were about to step out on stage, something phenomenal happened, it stopped raining! this can only be contributed to JAH's blessings; as the sun began to shine just in time for their set. There was a huge crowd and the entire set was filmed by the BBC. The same time Mikey was performing on stage, on the Jazz World stage James Brown performed only a half an hour earlier. Mikey and the DATC Band thought no one would be at their stage but that was not so. The moment they started playing, the crowds came and the rest is HISTORY. According to Mikey "I have never seen such a huge crowd ever! It was a special moment, as I felt this was my time to showcase my works and the fans really had a great time". Moving on: They next played at the Bristol Carnival where they Headlined. This too was a great show, true to form Mikey and the Dread at the Controls Band, were in top form. Once again Mikey Dread has proven true his song "Choose me", the words are such: "If you choose me, you choose a good Thing - Mikey Dread". There were a lot of people there and according to the BBC web page it was a sure crowd pleaser. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bristol/content/goingout/2004/summer/carnival/carnival.shtm l Later: They played in Wales after leaving England at the "Reggae Wales" Festival, which they were also headliners. They played to a SOLD OUT! audience, who received Mikey and the Band with much joy and enthusiasm. This is what one fan wrote "Hi Mikey Dread, We saw you in concert on June 10th in The Reggae Wales Festival and thought the performance was great, I will definitely want to see you again in the future. From, Ryan, Jordan, Declan & Kelly. Journeying on; They holidayed in Wales for about 2 weeks before returning to London to play the Lambeth Festival in Brockwell Park near Brixton. This was another day where it rained before they were to perform and as they were announced to start the program, once again the rain halted! Sunshine again glowed across the park, the crowds came and the show was as always, in top form. The crowds again showed their approval, by dancing, shouting, whistle blowing, screaming, jumping and just cheering Mikey and the Band on. Mikey later brought on Earl 16 one of the many Artists he produced in the 80s as a surprise guest (Mikey is always pulling a wild reggae card out of his Rasta in Control bag) this was most certainly a high point and to top it off, he was not finished YET! as he called another old friend join them on stage, Reggae artist Winston McAnuff aka; Electric Dread and the 3 of them commenced to give the Audience good, Jamaican Authentic Roots Reggae at it's best, they had so much fun performing to the ecstatic crowd and just continued to do just so; NICE UP the place!. The next day they were supposed to play in London not outdoors, but inside the theatre called the Coronet. The lineup was Sly and Robbie, Mikey Dread and Linval Thompson but the promoter called the day before the show and canceled it to everyone's dismay. No Problem: The show they played next in Scotland in Glasgow at the Arches was sold out as the Scottish fans proved to Mikey that they had never forgotten who he is - Mikey Dread, The Rasta who is always in Control. Mikey and the Band again headlined and were supported by a new and upcoming band in Glasgow, Scotland called "Sweet T and the Section" which was inspiring. Mikey was so inspired by this Band, that he invited them to play along with them on the last tract they played that night "Roots and Culture" with 6 horn players blowing the horn lines, Mikey and the Crew sounded like a real Orchestra!!!! What is becoming the norm at a Mikey Dread Concert, the crowd was rocking and jumping all night. Mikey said "Next summer we know definitely where we will be Europe," They plan to head back to Europe for a summer 2005 Tour, as the crowd really did love them up and supported the shows in masses. Scotland had a great show and they will most definitely will be back in 2005. Special moments in Scotland according to Mikey Dread "The fans loved it and for the first time I saw hundreds of people queuing up to buy Mikey Dread CDS and I sold out on all my CDs after the show and signed peoples bodies, T shirts, concert tickets, passes, CDs, old vinyl's and anything the fans could find that they wanted me to sign." Mikey and The Crew were treated royally in Scotland, the promoter decided to give Mikey and Crew a luxury Penthouse suite for a week, and delighted them all with real star treatment. A very special conclusion: They were invited to dine with an African Prince who resides there and again were all treated to some of the best African food they have ever eaten. Part one is a recap of the much talked about successful summer 2004 European Mikey Dread and The Dread at the Control Band "Door to Door" Tour: This includes London, Scotland and Wales. Soon Come Part II - Mikey Dread Festivals in France. Give Thanks to all the Media/Promoters/Managers/Fans/Stage Personnel/Vendors and others, all of you are an intricate part in making this thing happen successfully. Blesseth Love! Mikey and Crew!
