We are currently almost half way through recording our next album slated for a Summer 2005 release. The album is tentatively called "Reggae Sunday School", our first kid's album! A lot of our fans started listening to our early recordings when they were in their teens (over 10 years ago) and now many have kids of their own. This will be an album for adults (that are really kids at heart) and their children too! It is being created to bless those who are sick of hearing secular kid's songs all day long and want their children to not just hear quality Christian messages, but also listen to great music. This album will feature true roots reggae, dancehall, soca, calypso and jungle in typical Christafari fashion! It will include many American and Caribbean Sunday school classics plus some great originals. It has been best described as Veggie Tales meets Sean Paul at a Christafari concert. It will also feature a massive ensemble of guest appearances from virtually every vocalist that has ever sang with Christafari in the past--plus a few new surprises. I thank all of you for your kind letters full of heartfelt encouragement throughout the years. We are actually recording this album due to the relentless requests from our listeners. It is by the grace or God and your thoughtful words that we have the motivation to continue on in this ministry amidst great tribulations. But today I am humbly asking for more than your words. Please pray for our finances. Ask that God will continue to provide for us as we do His work. This is a tough season for us. Earlier this year our former distribution company (Butterfly) filed bankruptcy, leaving us in tremendous financial turmoil. We were robbed of 1 1/2 years worth of sales royalties from all of our Lion of Zion albums. This means that we never received one cent of income for the worldwide sales of our "Gravity" album (our greatest investment to date), which has left us in need. Given our present situation, instead of digging ourselves into greater debt to cover the steep costs of recording, mastering, manufacturing and promoting this new album, I have decided to humbly ask our listeners to lend a helping hand. If you have ever been blessed by the ministry of Christafari, and enriched by our recordings, please consider blessing us with a monetary love-gift of any size. Your generous donation will be greatly appreciated and enable the ministry of Christafari to press on. Our need is real and immediate. Simply make your check out to "Christafari" and please make sure your name and address is written clearly on your check. Then mail it to: Christafari 1942 259th Place Lomita, CA 90717 USA For your donation, you will get the assurance that you are blessing a ministry that is making a difference in this dark world. You will also get a huge thanks from Christafari and we will make sure that you receive a special advanced copy of this album long before anyone else has heard it! Thanks for your generosity. May you be showered with all the spiritual blessings from above! Got my copy of CRUCIAL REGGAE from Outside Jamaica today and I must say it is OUTSTANDING! A delightful compilation of 13 talented artists from the US, Caribbean and Canada comprise this smooth listen of Progressive Roots Consciousness. From Maimon's sweet vocals in Clear Night by his band Mongoose (brings back sweet memories of going to see Mongoose with the late Joe Higgs. Mongoose was one of his favorites!) to the luxuriantly rich voice of Nasio Fontaine on Riding High. Professor Skank has juxtaposed some of his favorite tracks guaranteed to please in a package that includes plenty of colorful graphics within the 16 page booklet. Not only is the music totally inspiring but I especially appreciate all the time and effort DJ Professor Skank has spent to not only scribe all lyrics, the albums from whence they came as well as their websites and thoughtfully credited all of the talented musicians from each track as well. On a score of one to five I give this CD a five. You must get it, you will not be disappointed! For the month of November, new tunes have stormed the NM Reggae Dancehall Chart. Leading the pack is the Ballaz Crew's SPANISH FLY riddim, which has given Kiprich his first solo-#1 spot in the history of our chart. His "Senorita" compliments the latin vibe of the riddim very well and has become THE most requested tune in the land of enchantment. Further selections from Ele at #4, Alozade & Chico at #6, Macka Diamond at #9 and Bounty at #19 show just how strong this riddim from one of Jamaica's newest production teams really is. Also brandnew and kickin' up quite a storm is Donovan Bennett's latest: the TIGHTY TIGHTY , courtesy of the man himself, alongside Nigel Staff and Wayne McGregor. Fast-paced, and somewhat similar to the massive KRAZY HYPE/FRENCH VANILLA, TOK have a monster tune on this creation, as do Ele (with the title track) and Ward 21, who are just bubbling under. Tony Matterhorn's SCOOBAY has made another re-surgence in New Mexico, with new entries from Martina, Lukie D & Chicken, while the "Scoobay Anthem" featuring Tony Curtis alongside Future Troubles has re-entered the chart at #3. Mr.Easy's RED-HOT "Pull Up" (obviously a favorite dancehall theme this year) also re-entered at #5, coutresy of Mr.Dow Jones & his South Rakkas team, while Sly Dunbar's KASABLANCA is represented by the one and only Galaxy P, who seems to have recovered nicely from his being shot earlier in the year. Baby G's somewhat outdated yet absolutely wicked ACOUSTIC SOUL beat also finally made it with Ele's "Mexican Girl". Complete badman-anthem material and you can nearly picture the gunman riding into town on his burrrrrro to check his Senorita despite all the dangers of the world that are lying in wait....Further GREATS on the riddim are out by Spragga and Wayne Marshall and I cannot recommend this one enough, although it dates back from 2003 I believe. The COOLIE DANCE's time seems to be nearly up, as Vegas & Wayne Anthony drop from #1 to #20 (ouch!), yet it is amazing how long it managed to remain on the chart in the first place, nearly reaching the DIWALI level. So props out to Scatta: what's next suh? Wayne Marshall's "Ganja Anthem" climbed a few spots, whereas the Outkast hit has definitely become old news (as they seem to have themselves, as well). Big Yard's RETURN/STOP THAT TRAIN riddim is still going strong with selections from Shaggy, Bounty and General Degree (Morgan Heritage and Voicemail are bubbling under on the same deal) and two of Jamaica's biggest roots anthems for the year have finally reached our mountains: Richie Spice's "Marijuana" on the sweet 5TH ELEMENT riddim and newcomer I-Wayne's "Can't Satisfy Her" (with VERY different & interesting lyrics) on the FATHER JUNGLE ROCK. There are a few, new dancehall RAGERS out there, which I predict to have quite an impact in the near future, especially Dave Kelly's latest BAD GAL and Black Chiney's premier: the KOPA, which has an uncanny resemblance to the COOLIE DANCE. New beats are also out from Dave's brother Tony (KATANA) and from Richard "Call Me Shams" Browne but I haven't heard those yet, so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open. Until Such Time. :Don Martin *********************************************************************** In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty Forward the Reggae Vibe...Every Time !
