Have a stack of membership renewals to go through today and tomorrow, and I will let anyone whose renewal arrived during my absence know that it has arrived at this end as soon as I have processed it. Same for new memberships. Will be sending out August renewal notices in the next week or so. And also updating my drop list for anyone whose membership is way overdue (my least favorite job!), so if you are overdue, be sure to send in your membership asap. Postings for Wha Gwaan in RAW can now be sent directly to me once again at tap@kuentos.guam.net I was able to access my email accounts a few times during my travels and think I got all posts out that were sent to me while I was on the road. Some referred to events that had already taken place so those did NOT get included in WGIR. Remember that if you send me a post that includes graphics, photos or music, I will send that post back to you and request that you resend only the text part. I am happy to report that the Board is close to having a complete set of by-laws ready for approval. I was able to talk to Kyle by phone a couple days ago, and we have a few points to clarify, but I am confident that we should have a working set of by-laws ready to present to the massive soon come. Ever forward Tom #33 ____ | __ \EGGAE | \/ //\MBASSADORS |_|\_\<>\\ /\ORLDWIDE #33 jahson@kuentos.guam.net /_/\_\\/\/ / \//\\/ Forwarding The Reggae Vibe...Everytime! http://www.reggaeambassadors.org [2] *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= >From Reggae Vibes Prods NL (R.A.W. #1050) Subject: Reggae Vibes News Bulletin (July 28, 2004) Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2004 23:07:08 +0200 From: Reggae Vibes Productions NL -*- http://www.reggae-vibes.com -*- -*- News Bulletin (July 28, 2004) -*- Playlist for Thursday, July 29, 2004. The cross-continent itinerary - which will see the four brothers performing as part of one uniquely talented band - marks the first time the iconic reggae pioneer9s family has officially presented and collaborated on a tour, coast-to-coast under their father9s name. Launched in association with the William Morris Agency, the performance will see the Marley siblings performing a mix of each brother9s individual solo material in addition to many of their father9s best-loved classics. The tour will also feature Toots and the Maytals. Bob Marley9s music - now 23 years since the artist9s passing in 1981 - remains timeless and universal alongside his reputation as one of the most charismatic and influential singer/songwriters in popular music history. In 1994, Marley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and five years later his celebrated song, 3Get Up, Stand Up,2 was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In the U.S., Bob Marley & the Wailers have nine RIAA gold-certified albums and one double-platinum album, along with the 10-times platinum certified hits collection, 3Legend.2 As the late music journalist Timothy White once poignantly observed, 3Bob Marley9s narrative melodies preserve the poetry of a suffering humanity; they are elegant in their bold simplicity, shining with a purity of purpose, as they relate sagas of social freedom, convey dramas of artistic freedom, champion the quest for spiritual freedom, and ultimately embody freedom itself.2 * * * * * Bob9s eldest son, Ziggy, has been singing, writing and producing with the three-time Grammy-Award winning Melody Makers since the age of 10. With nine studio albums to his credit with the Melody Makers, he released his solo record, 3Dragonfly,2 in the spring of 2003 on Private Music/Arista Associated Labels. Stephen Marley has long demonstrated his talents as a member of the Melody Makers - for who he has written, produced, provided vocals, and deejayed. Together with his brother Ziggy he founded the Ghetto Youths International production team. His full-length solo debut is slated for release in the fall on the Motown label. Since recording his first song at age five, Julian Marley, has emerged as a skillful, self-taught musician, who has mastered the bass, drums, and keyboards. Julian released his solo debut, 3Uprising,2 in 1989 followed in 1996 by 3Lion on the Morning.2 His latest album, 3Time & Place,2 was issued last year on Ghetto Youths / Tuff Gong Records. The youngest of Bob9s children, Damian 3Junior Gong2 Marley, has been performing since the age of thirteen. His second solo album, 3Halfway Tree,2 (co-produced by Stephen), received the Grammy Award for Reggae Album of the Year in 2001. His Stephen Marley-produced debut, 3Mr. Marley,2 was released in 1996. The only child of Jamaican table tennis champion Anita Belnavis and Bob, Ky-Mani Marley appeared in a movie called 3One Love,2 which is the longest running film in Jamaica to date. Ky-mani is in the studio currently working on his third album. This include the famed reggae trailblazers Toots and the Maytals. Their newly released album, 3True Love,2 (V2) features performances by such acclaimed artists as Ryan Adams, Trey Anastasio, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, No Doubt, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards and more.
