Knight Center in Miami, Florida and they did not disappoint. The fledging promoters have earned a place in the hearts of reggae lovers from as far away as Minnesota by treating them to a concert that had them rocking from the moment Binghi Bob touched the stage to the Jah Messenjah Band's final note. Eight76 Records proved that it is the new label to watch with solid performances from its artists. Binghi Bob, best known for the chart topper "B-I-B-L-E" has been seen around Eight76 studios of late, and he took the stage to set the tone of entertainment and culture for the night. Fyah Blaze had the ladies on their feet with his popular "She's My Lover" off the Skasmatic riddim. His new single "Keep It Burnin" was well received by a crowd who was already lit with excitement. Blaze has definitely whet appetites for his upcoming debut album. After months of hearing the sweet Evette over the airwaves, it was a meeting long overdue. Evette wowed the crowd with a tight selection of new material cleverly woven with well loved standards like "Gonna Make it Up" and "One Draw." It's always refreshing to see young female artists with the potential to last. Professor Nuts kept the crowd laughing and got the first forward of the night. With his hilarious performance the crowd was ripe for the superstars to take the stage. Half Pint worked out with all of his old tunes "Winsome," "Level the Vibes," and more. Barrington Levy's long awaited return to the area was met with a rousing welcome by an eager crowd who didn't want to let him go. The only man who could've possibly followed him was Jah Messenjah himself. After allowing fellow soldiers Dean Fraser and Mikey General to set the stage for him, Luciano finally came forth and gave the people the message they were well prepared to receive. Even in a time-pressured set Luciano solidified himself as reggae music's crown prince of entertainment. In a show of support for the island from which it got it's name, Eight76 Records pledged a portion of its proceeds to aid hurricane relief in Jamaica and Grenada. Later this week the company plans to announce the results of the fundraiser and deliver the check to the Jamaica United Relief Association. The company has also declared that a portion of funds from all future events will go to support various charitable causes in the Caribbean. This 196.4 acres park contains the last natural forest and salt marsh in Manhattan. Human activity has been present in Inwood Hill Park from prehistoric times. Through the 17th century, Native Americans known as the Lenape (Delawares) inhabited the area. There is evidence of a main encampment along the eastern edge of the park. The Lenape relied on both the Hudson and Harlem Rivers as sources for food. Artifacts and the remains of old campfires were found in Inwoods rock shelters, suggesting their use for shelter and temporary living quarters. CHRISTAFARI UPDATE: Just days before Mark and the band left for their European tour, Christafari received three reggae awards from the Urban Gospel Industry for their "Gravity" release. They picked up "Album of the Year", "Artist/Group of the year", and "Producer of the Year". While in London, the band heard news that they had also received a prestigious Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Award in the category of "International Caribbean Album of the Year"! As for the European tour, it proved to be the group's most extensive headlining tour to date, with an exhausting 26 shows in 26 days in 7 different countries! While the schedule was often overwhelming, so was the audience response at virtually every show. In fact the group depleted their massive supplies of CDs three times on the tour, forcing them to have more product shipped to next city. The highlights of the tour include New Life in England, Freakstock Festival in Germany before over 5,000, headlining Wildfire festival in Helsinki and the all night reggae party at Frizon Festival in Sweden. Prior to the tour, the band was a bit apprehensive about going to Estonia. However, Tallin, An 800 year old Estonian city surrounded by a castle would prove to be the most beautiful location that the band visited. "It is always great to get a chance to meet with and minister to our listeners face to face," said Mark Mohr. "The promoters were a dream to work with, and despite our exhaustion, the band unity was at an all time high. Just imagine touring with 6 other people for a month straight and never arguing once! God answered our prayers. While all of the shows were great, it was in our last week in Holland that we found our most enthusiastic fan base. The new songs that we played were always a big hit, especially when we taught the audience some new dances to the song 'New Movement'. Imagine a thousand people all doing the same move at the same time! And God saved the best show for last, for it was in Amsterdam where even rastas held up their hands after the sinners prayer!" Now that they are back home, the group is finally recouped and looking forward to doing a few fall shows. They will also be hitting the studio again to continue working on their next release. Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2004 07:33:42 -0700 From: RudeGal Management Contact: RudeGal rudegal@rudegal.com 909-227-RUDE (7833) After years of recording quality Dancehall Reggae hits, MR EASY's been breaking into the limelight again. The big hit "Drive Me Crazy" on the popular BUY OUT riddim, produced by Tony Kelly, is still a club banger to this day! Not only did it is serve to remind the masses of his vocal ability, get the club crowds immediately to the dance floor, but the song played on mainstream US stations ranging from; KRRQ, KNOU, WBTJ, WBOT, WDKX, WPHI, WJMN, WMBX, WOWI, WQHT, WQOK, WRED, WWPR and more! A new version of this song was remixed with producer Tony Kelly for Kevin Lyttle's album; new laid back tempo, new lyrics and new vibes. This song could very well be the next single for Kevin Lyttle's debut album with Atlantic Records. Also, Mr Easy was also one of the featured artists on Beenie Man's last album "Tropical Storm" (Virgin Records) with their collaboration "Haters & Fools". It's taken some time and careful planning for the Dancehall singer once signed to Quest/Motown Records to find the right combination of tracks to propel him forward. Early on Mr. Easy forged strong relationships with talented producers; Dave and Tony Kelly, which has aided in solidifying his Dancehall recordings. The powerful delivery of his lyrics have been felt from near and far as the Caribbean, Canada, US, Europe and South America! Preparing himself for a long overdue album, Easy's been consistently voicing on the cream of the crop Dancehall riddims. Working with esteemed producers like; Dave Kelly, South Rakkas Crew, Skatta, Tony Kelly and Troyton Rami has allowed Easy to build up a catalog filled with quality and bashment favored selections. Presently his work from three of these top-notch producers is paving a new path for him. With "Grudge You" from the Ching Chong riddim generating big steam in East Coast clubs and getting spun on mixshow things look promising. "It's Alright" from the Grindin Riddim is also a favorite with selectors and on Reggae radio programming. The new pulsating hard-hitting Red Alert track "Pull Up" is definitely generating a buzz and inquiries worldwide - already being added into rotation at Miami's POWER 96! Still, after four years, "Drive Me Crazy" reigns supreme in the clubs. With appearances at WRED's show in Portland Maine, WJMN's show in Boston, WBFZ in Selma Albama, WPHR in New York and with POWER 96 in Miami, Mr. Easy's radio relationships are growing at tremendous pace. Easy is one of the artists featured on the upcoming Heineken Red Star Mixtape release. He's even begun taping into the mixtape circuit hosting one of DJ Lil' Mic releases as well as putting the final touches on a few others, an act which is putting in him front of a new audience. To keep things moving forward, MR EASY has a progressive new interactive website recently launched at: http://www.mreasy.net where you'll find additional information, updates, tour dates, photos, lyrics, audio clips and his video for "Drive Me Crazy". *********************************************************************** In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty Forward the Reggae Vibe...Every Time !
