FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 30, 2005 HENRY TURNER JR. & FLAVOR HIT CITY RECORDS RELEASE OF SINGLE MERRY CHRISTMAS. Baton Rouge, LA…Hit City Records is pleased to announce the release of HENRY TURNER’S MERRY CHRISTMAS, an R& B influenced ballad for the holidays. The tune, written by Turner, was inspired by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, his reflections on Christmas’ past, and his hope in the future. In October, his band, Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor released the single GIVE ME LOVE, recorded live at Café Negril. This song, about communication and friendship, is what he believes we all need during times of devastation and hardship. In the aftermath of the destruction of New Orleans, Turner housed sixteen people in his home in Baton Rouge and helped many more apply for federal assistance. In September, Turner was approached by Hurricane Healing to provide music for their internet downloads and compilation CD’s, from which a portion of the proceeds goes to the Salvation Army for recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast region. His GIVE ME LOVE is currently available via download at www.hurricanehealing.us and on Volume II, of the organizations compilation CD. Currently, MERRY CHRISTMAS is in rotation on KPSU (Oregon), WBRH (Baton Rouge), KKAY (Donaldsville, LA), KCRL (Salt Lake), KFAI (Minneapolis), KNOW (Dallas), as well as internationally through Blue Pie Productions at http://www.stayaround.com\merry-xmas-by-henry-turner-jnr-download-965-htm . Henry Turner Jr. & Flavors unique brand of Louisiana Reggae/Funk, with jazz, blues and R&B infusions has been described as… ‘a sure crowd pleaser.’ Radio play hits include “Fat Baby,” “Limbo,” “Louisiana Funk,” “Praising Jah” and “Family,” on their “Will Work For Money,” “Facing Mellenium” and “Louisiana Gumbo Combo” CD’s. The mesmerizing bands’ recent tour dates include the Peter Tosh Celebration Tour, USA Reggae Road Show, Louisiana Legends Tour and the Bob Marley Fest 1997. Television appearances include “The All You Can Eat Texas Music Café,” “Caribbean Breeze” and “Louisiana Jukebox.” Movie soundtrack credits include “Gutter Punks” and “Destination Jamaica:Rastafarian Dreams.” Check out the websites at www.henryturnerjr.com and www.ballardsbytes.com. - 30 – For additional information contact: Marcia N. "Jamaica's Weekly Top 20 (Singles) Hit List" - plus soundclips - is featured on our site. Also check Teacher & Mr. T's "Hot'n'Fresh Top 10". Massive B's "Culture Juggling Vol. 1" is a strong release from start to finish, with admittedly some, but very little filler. Together with his 'partner in crime' Nigel Staff, Donovan 'Vendetta' Bennett a.k.a. Don Corleon has built another dancehall scorcher called the "Justice"-riddim. Spain's Rachid 'Kamikaze' Baggasse and Josue Luque 'Chulito' Camacho are rivaling Jamaican productions with their "Black Rain" riddim. The new one drop "revival" is gaining momentum in Europe and Jamaica as can be witnessed on Greensleeves dbl album "The Biggest Reggae One-Drop Anthems 2005". Lukie D's "Be Strong" album is an unspectacular but enjoyable release from an artist of unfulfilled potential. "Confused Times" is Anthony B's latest release and an attempt to build on the success of the acclaimed "My Hope" issued recently on the Minor7Flat5 label. "Fundamental Reggae Vol. 1" collects sixteen Joe Gibbs & Errol Thompson (a.k.a. The Mighty Two) produced tunes that were recorded between 1967 and 1986. >From the interesting ROIR label, comes "Bass Chalice", the new album from 10 Ft Ganja Plant. "Version 2 Version, A Dub Transmission" from Bill Laswell (with Jah Wobble) features the sound of two accomplished veterans. Dr. Israel's album "Patterns Of War" is harsh, aggressive inner city music, fusing dub strategies cut and spliced with junglist, ambient and jazz influences with edges of late 70’s punk passions. New photos have been added to our Picture Gallery: Toots & The Maytals, Bunny Wailer, King Kong, Tony "CD" Kelly and Ernest Ranglin. **** Last week's updates at http://www.reggae-vibes.com **** Fantan Mojah's energetic narratives makes his debut album Hail The King a worthy listening experience. Junior Kelly's "Tough Life" is loaded with well known riddims and hit singles. If you are a follower, then Jackie Mittoo's "Jah Rock Style ~ Anthology" is an excellent record. "Living My Culture" assembles the works of Mike Brooks, both as an artist and producer. It's a pleasure to hear Manasseh's "Dub Plate Style 1990-1999", which in part, focuses on early period UK digital reggae. Zion Train's re-issued album "Natural Wonders Of The World In Dub" has stood the test of time rather well. "Dancehallfieber 5" provides an excellent overview of the German/Austrian/Swiss reggae/dancehall scene. Seeed's second commercial release drawn from their "Next!" album, "Schwinger", is a great humorous boast in fine dancehall style. The Travellers 45s "South Africa" and "Close The Gate Dread" are bound to go down a storm with the completists. "Knotty Vision"... Interview with Jackie Brown... by Peter I. Mark Wonder... "A Spiritual Warrior Who Deserves Wide Acclaim".
