We will be doing special tribute to the late , great King Tubby,  inventor of the remix, god father of modern dance music and hip hop, this event is not to be missed. There will be a live painting of Tubbs by way of my good friends Dstrbo and Gene Starship ( HVW8 ) as well as more of there painting's on display......... The music of the night will focus on Tubby's contribution to all the forms of dancehall music from his early dub workoutsof the 70's to his now legendary mid '80's dancehall label's like Firehouse and Taurus. (some of these 45's now go for up to $100 dollars !!! ) Also in the mix will be his greatest apprentice's King Jammy and Scientist. Sadly Tubby was killed back in 1989 in front of his home / studio in  Waterhouse, downtown Kingston and was never able to receive the full attention he rightly deserved as a true musical revolutionary. Tickets are only $5.00 at the door.... www.dublounge.net [2] *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= >From: Lance-O (R.A.W #904) Subject: 'REGGAE VIBES' #502 (correct one) Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2005 08:15:54 -0500 From: lanceo@kulchashok.com Greetings Reggae, Soca & Caribbean music fans, 'REGGAE VIBES' has returned to it's original state with a few changes. Date: Wed, 14 Dec 2005 07:04:31 -0800 (PST) From: anna fisher Question, what shall I give everybody on my most list this year? With three performances at my elementary school this week, and a studio under contruction, just thought I'd tell you the greatest present for everyone on your list and then some not... but there's Mom, Dad, Grandma, baby nephews, grandchildren, Uncles and Aunts, lovers, Mom, spouses... there's one solution... run don't walk to you record store and get a copy of "Black Gold & Green" by Third World Band. (Shanachie) They will LOVE you for it! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009UVCNA/002-5017532-0944067?v=glance&n=5174 And you will save a lot of time so you can spend more time listening to more Reggae Music because that's why we're here! Oh, yesterday I decided to give my staff a gift of love and life from the United States Virgin Islands with our arrangement of "Virgin Island Christmas: Guavaberry Song and Mamma Bake Me Johnnycake Medley" It was a big hit! I hired Jawge to come perform with me at my school, wanted to bring them some Christmas Cheer for the US Virgin Islands. Jawge was born on St. Thomas and I taught music in the two elementary schools on St. John for 10 years. I taught it to all Virgin Island youth as part of the curriculum, it's a real crowd pleaser at all holiday concerts in the thre island region! This weekend, Grasshopper and Inner Visions Band will be headlining the Reggae Portion of the St. John Christmas Music Festival this weekend! http://stj.onepaper.com/ I was very pleased to be published in a message this week in reference to an increase in in-school violence. Building my studio, getting ready to do some major projects. Oh...from now on, I'd like to be introduced as, "Grammy Nominated Oboist, Anna Fisher" Give thanks, Joseph Higgs (R.I.P.) and Third World Band!!!! Yes, "Black Gold & Green" made the Grammys! Don't miss them at Rebel Salute this year... if you haven't heard Wayne Marshall and Third World's message in Writing On The Wall you're missing out! Thank you sincerely to Cat Coore, Richie Daley, Rugs Clark, Fiona Robinson for your inspiration on my performance. Thank you Jah for your blessings to play my feelings through my horn. "There's A Reward" will speak to your heart. I'm surprised my oboe lines haven't been mentioned much in the reviews more than on Oboe Obligato... well, perhaps it's time we put more musially educated ears out there to review the music. Well, I guess I'll be responsible. I love Alpha Blondy, love the sweet musicians that back him. His horns are so tight! Lately, I've been tying to hear more live horns. Also working on five new song with Jawge and a few upcoming with Aboubass. Trying to get to St. John, Jamaica (Jan 14 Rebel Salute) and possibly Beliz for New Year's Eve to see Barrington Levy. Jawge is subbing for his son George, Jr. who will be on paternity leave while his wife has their firstborn. What a fine example... I'm sure he got that from his dad, who has been helping raise his two youngest grandchildren for the past eight years! Pius Higher Lion perfomed last night in Santa Barbara, sure I missed a great show! Off to work... Mafia & Fluxy's "Zion Riddim" is a good one with nuff worthwhile vocal cuts to enjoy. "Pharos Frontline" is a thoughtful, worthy collection, serving as a balanced introduction to a compelling, strong house band and a sincere label. Deyansa's "Holding On To Life" is a worthy, emotional debut from a fine, talented vocalist who deserves to reach to a new level. "Ketch Di Riddim ~ Get A Beaten" is an excellent set of tunes over a great riddim. The one-riddim album "Hard Drugs Riddim" from TADS Record Inc. is a nice (qualitative even stronger) companion to the earlier Delperies release. Inch-Time's "Any Colour You Like" is a commendable introspective work for those of you who enjoy the distant, indefinable, craggier edges of dub. "Best Of Israel Vibration ~ Cool And Calm" is a nice summary of the wonderful career of this vocal trio. Reggae Vibes and Small Axe UK present... "Jamaica's X1 2005 [The Singers]". **** Last week's updates at http://www.reggae-vibes.com **** TOP 50 of album recommendations for December 2005, compiled by Teacher & Mr. T., with Fantan Mojah's "Hail The King" at the #1 spot and the compilation set "Culture Juggling Vol. 1" as our new "Album of the Month"! Listen to soundclips taken from our album of the month, Massive B's compilation set "Culture Jugglin Vol. 1". Kiprich delivers an accomplished and well varied debut album entitled "Outta Road". VP's compilation set "Strictly The Best Volume 33" features fifteen dancehall tracks, including some of this year's biggest hits. "Dis Ya Time ~ One Riddim Album" features nuff quality vocal cuts for Bost & Bim's remake of the Itals' "Inna Dis Ya Time" riddim. "Riddim Driven ~ Old Truck" clearly shows Steely & Clevie are still a force to be reckoned with. If you miss Tenor Saw's sound, then buy King Kong's album "Rumble Jumble Life". The content of "Our Music" shows why Burning Spear is an enduring exponent of socially conscious reggae music. Trojan's 3 CD Box Set "Rocksteady Rarities" will please the Rocksteady completists. Though a little formulaic and pedestrian in places, "Gaz's Rockin Blues ~ Club Classics" is all in all, a very nice collection The CD single "Love Can Do" acts as a reasonable taster for the Amharic's "Descendents" album.
