The Tosh Foundation has released 50 copies of a special rare re-mastered, never before released Peter Tosh, Equal Rights Unplugged session recorded in 1977. The album is titled " Doors of Inspiration" and features several acoustic, informal recordings. A special bonus interview is also included. The only place to get one of these fifty special release copies is on the www.ptosh.com website, and at a special low price this release is sure to sell out within days. A special limited edition advance release was put out earlier this year and featured advance tracks from Edi Fitzroy, J. Mascis of Dinoursar Jr., the late Jerry Garcia, Daddy Roots, Mystic Vibrations, and others The box set release is being produced by the Tosh Foundation and the Tosh Estate. They are working to compile boot leg recordings done during Tosh's solo career and tours. Anyone having boot leg recordings is encouraged to check our website and see if it is listed as one of the tracks we already have. If it's not, provide the project with a copy and you'll get your name in the credits as a contributor and will receive a complimentry copy of the box set when it is released. We are also looking for obscure Tosh photographs for the box set booklet. Look for two red, yellow, and green Peter Tosh race cars in next years popular, Speed World Challenge racing series. (some) Planning for SNWMF 2005 - Plan your night's needs as you know best for comfortable survival and homey touches, but bring for your time at the festival; Water, but not in glass bottles. Shade, whether hat, sunscreen, canopy or all that. (I wear wet linen scarfs over head, around shoulders -when I go by water source I re-wet scarf). Maybe insect repellent (not needed before but you never know). Fanny pack, backpack to carry valuables with you and still keep hands free to weave in the air to music. Blanket to sit on, low lawn chairs, almonds or walnuts for instant brain food and energy, black sharpie pens for reggae stars autographing your SNWMF Program while walking around, good walking shoes for dancing, walking to your camp and through our vendors and up and down a hill between the two stages. Money for the great shopping and food. Maybe a Red Bull or two so you can enjoy the live music all day until late, then go to the dancehall until 3am and then rise up for yoga at 10am or first band at 11am! The Village Stage is on somewhat flat ground with vendors ringing the crowd's grassy area lined with trees with a small stream running through, with that stage being close to front main entrance of the festival grounds. The huge Valley Stage is at the bottom of a sloping grassy hill that people sit on. It has some trees of to one side. Vendors are scattered between and around the two easy-sloping hills that make up the fairgrounds. Inside the festival is paved paths. Campgrounds are laid out in mostly grassy fields next to all this. There are trees, but bring shade canopies or umbrellas, or hats since you don't pick your spot. Try to arrive so your whole group's cars are together in line. Maybe bring stuff (extra food, unwanted clothes, tents...) you want to get rid of, that you might "gift" someone needing it more, with. June 4, 2005 Chocolate City Productions & Mt. Nebo Records present: "GLOBAL SOUL" A Jam for GCAM, Grupo de Capoeira Angola Mocambique, on Friday, June 10, 2005. Where: Cafi Mawonaj 624 T St. NW, Washington DC 20001 Live performances by Bambz Station (Reggae), Pure Light Seed (Rock Soul), Samba Trovau (Afro-Brazilian) and HueMan Prophets (Hip-Hop/Spoken Word.) Hosted by Poet/Hip-Hop Artist/Educator/Activist Bomani Dmite Armah; World beats spun by a DJ. Only $10 @ Door ~ Ladies $5 before 10PM. The proceeds from this unique production will help to create a cultural exchange between communities in Mozambique, the U.S., and Brazil via the Grupo de Capoeira Angola Mocambique (GCAM). This event will help raise funds needed for GCAM to travel, purchase equipment, acquire temporary housing and provide community outreach initiatives in Africa. Capoeira is a martial arts dance form that was developed in Brazil, but originated in Southern & Central Africa, and combines elements of dance, music, acrobatics, style, wit, and spirit. For years, Capoeira has been a vehicle for social change and cultural esteem in Brazil, and recently, North America. Help us bring it full circle, taking it back to the land of its origin. Support Mestre Jurandir Nascimento in building GCAM, a youth organization in Maputo, Mocambique committed to the preservation and study of Capoeira Angola and grass roots activism using Capoeira as a vehicle. This is a Pan-African collaboration bringing together different communities of the Black/African Diaspora to support a group of young Africans in Preserving an important African cultural legacy; Using Capoeira as a vehicle for activism; Developing themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually through the study of Capoeira; and Building relationships with Africans in other parts of the Diaspora. In doing so, we will also bring support to Cafe Mawonaj, a community cafi, presently struggling to maintain a venue where music, community, culture, activism, and global African cuisine come together in a peaceful, enriching, and stimulating environment. Mt. Nebo Records is the independent record company that promotes and distributes music from Bambz Station, a Reggae Band whose music and lyrics are designed to uplift the masses, build consciousness, and foster connections throughout the Diaspora. The band has recently returned from their journey to Israel, and will participate in this worthy cause before continuing with their Bambz Station and Talkin Roots Tours. We are in full support of the youth, the mission of GCAM and Cafi Mawonaj, says Liz Llanos, Marketing Director of Mt. Nebo Records. This event is also done in support of Cafi Mawonaj, a community restaurant & lounge that serves up a soul-full gumbo of culture, activism, and global cuisine.
