The group starts off next week with its first return to the Midwest since 2003, a highlight of which will be the All-Stars first ever performance in Chicago. After that, the All-Stars return for only two days to Southern California, where they will open the prestigious Twilight Dance Series at Santa Monica Pier on the 30th of June. That's followed by a return to the UK for 7 shows in mid-July and a run through Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana in August. The Midwest tour and two Cali dates are sponsored once again by our friends at Vaporbrothers, makers of the finest Vaporizers known to man. In fact, we'll be giving away two Vaporizers at each show in the Midwest and at the Solana Beach show, so come on out and get lucky! Look for the debut of deejay MANY MORE with the group in the Midwest and Cali; British fans will be extra lucky, as the group will be joined on its UK run by the legendary RANKING JOE for the first time, as well as Groove Collective leader Jay Rodriguez on sax and flute. As the lead element of the Virgin Islands Roots Reggae Explosion, which was Sunday's main feature on the Village Stage, Bambu Station spent much of the day backing Virgin Island's vocal stars Iba, Army and Pressure. V.I. vocalists Batch and Ras Attitude also performed, backed by a foundational band from the I-Grade Records camp of Midnite, but I can't think of their band name at this moment. Still, it was incredible. Then, Bambu Station came on around sunset and by then the entire Village Stage area was full, with thousands of fans vibing on the energy from lead vocalist Jalani Horton, awesome guitarist Tuff Lion, and the rest of the tight and smooth-sounding Bambu Station band. After an incredible set, Jalani summoned all the singers who had performed through the day to come onstage together for an unprecedented Virgin Islands artist reunion and repeat performance. Smiles and tears abounded from performers and fans, and all were aware that a special moment of musical energy had just occurred. Listen Sunday night to the Reggae Shack, 100.1 KTHX fm at 9 pm for more musing about this great event, and catch the Postmon on KUNR thursday night at 7 pm or his take on it. And don't forget, Bambu Station play in Crystal Bay tonight at the Biltmore, then on July 22 right here in Reno at the Green Room.
