Este importante viaje al borde de la selva colombiana les permitis interactuar con las vmctimas del conflicto armado, y tambiin a profundizarse y sensibilizarse con las ramces de la selva. EN ESTADO DE ALERTA. Viviendo todos bajo un mismo techo, conocen fraternalmente la unidad espiritual de JAH RASTAFARI. Luego tienen la oportunidad de viajar al archipiilago de San Andris, Providencia y Santa Catalina invitados por la gobernacisn para participar como znico grupo del interior del pams en el Departamental Crab Festival, el International Crab Festival y el reinado Miss Islas. Interactuando con los raizales propios de esta topografma, su cultura, su folclor, su gastronomma, su mmstica, la problematica social y ambiental de la regisn; es asm como logran conocer y llegar a convivir en San Andris con su mentor Ticha Pepa, y en Providencia, luego de tocar en el Old Vacation Party, comparten una larga temporada con su hermano Jimmy Archbold y su familia. De regreso a Bogota, empieza una nueva etapa para ALERTA; guiados por un Dios, un Propssito y un Destino forman su propio sello disquero (Natarajah) y deciden autogestionar sus proyectos y viajes. El 13 de diciembre del 2002 lanzan su primer single En lo profundo-Legal que se agota rapidamente y comienzan a sonar fuertemente en la radio local. El aqo 2003 es trascendental en la historia de ALERTA, pues son invitados al 19th Latino Film Festival de Chicago para representar a Colombia en la fiesta inaugural. Con un gran trabajo autsnomo logran llegar a Chicago y se presentan el 4 de abril en el Aragon Ballroom Theatre ante una considerable cantidad de pzblico latino y anglosajsn; ademas aprovechan para viajar a Nueva York y Miami donde se relacionan con diferentes personalidades de la mzsica y el Reggae mundial. Ya en Bogota, se internan en el estudio, alternando las presentaciones con la grabacisn, mezcla y masterizacisn de su primer LP. Vuelven a viajar a Miami y mezclan con el productor colombiano Bernardo Ossa una de las canciones del CD. Tienen la oportunidad de compartir escenario y vivienda en Bogota con su hermano Fidel Nadal con quien comienzan a desarrollar importantes proyectos. Participan en el Rastazo, el festival de Reggae y ska mas importante de Colombia. Tambiin realizan una gran presentacisn en la 9: edicisn de Rock al Parque (uno de los festivales mas importantes de Latinoamirica), junto a grandes artistas nacionales e internacionales. Son elegidos como el mejor grupo de Reggae nacional en el 2002, 2003 y 2004 por la revista Shock. Finalmente realizan el lanzamiento de su primer LP titulado ALERTA, producido musical y ejecutivamente por ALERTA a travis de su disquera independiente Natarajah. Una exitosa presentacisn con la venta de 800 ejemplares esa misma noche. En el 2004 participan activa y musicalmente en la edicisn inicial del Festival Reggae Colombia organizado el 27 de Mayo en Bogota. Luego graban el video clip de la cancisn Legal ; el cual esta inspirado en la dramatica situacisn en que viven los pueblos latinoamericanos donde hay un permanente juego entre la autoridad y la libertad. El rodaje es realizado en Ambalema, Tolima y posteriormente es escogido como el Mejor Video del Aqo (ALERTA "Legal") en los Video Premios Mucha Mzsica 2005, en la primera entrega de Video Premios Mucha Mzsica Citytv. Four months in a row now! Junior Gong is still New Mexicos top-a-top on a combined September/October chart. No tune seems to be able to shake the young djs dominance in the Southwest ! VERY strong this time around is Birchs churchical MY SWING riddim, represented by STRONG tunes from Assassin, Elephant Man, TOK & Kiprich. Hallelujah! As if that werent enough, Christopher Langman Birch is rockin the area with yet another production entitled BOUNCE. Out on Greensleeves, as well as on the In The Streetz label, the project is similar to the 120 bpm, clappin-style riddims like COOLIE DANCE/KOPA and obviously mixes well with them. Capleton is counter-acting the Put Your AK Ova The Wall-trend here, calling for an end to the senseless ghetto violence that is plaguing Jamaica, while Voicemail control the title-track of the album. After a slow start, Jah Snowcones APPLAUSE is holding out rock-steady in the area, with Assassin & Sizzla leading the way. Mista Wilks MARRY WANNA riddim has been licensed for distribution by Greensleeves and re-named the ICE CUBE. While the music isnt exactly dancefloor material here in NM, there are so many GREAT tunes on this riddim, that I still predict big things for it out this way. Wayne Marshalls title-track dropped out this month but Lefteyes No STD has risen to the #3 spot and Red Squares Bad From We Born climbed up to #9. Damian Marleys Hey Girl is by far the best tune aside from Welcome To Jamrock on his new album. Wicked, wicked dancehall beat (I wish for further tunes on this music) and an excellent combo vocal performance with an unknown female counter-part. The album Welcome To Jamrock set a new sales-record in its first week out on the streets (for a Caribbean album), selling 86 000 copies in the first seven days alone (and barely out-selling Kevin Lyttle, who held the record so far). Yet Sean Pauls new long-player Trinity, which hit the market the following week, has taken over the current record (with over 110 000 copies selling the first week). Both albums seem to be heading for platinum, which is good for the further growth of reggae and dancehall music! On the rootical tip, my favorite release comes out of California this month! Local artists Soul Majestic went down to Jamaica to record their new album (Until That Day) and the first single Stand Up (featuring Anthony B) sounds absolutely magnificent & is worth the purchase of the album alone! Roots to the bone!!!! Special Delivery Music did a nice re-creation of the Itals INA DIS YA TIME riddim and Sizzla hits our charts with his Good Over Evil (every time!), while further selections from Lukie D & Natty King are barely bubblin under. Don Corleons SEASONS finally charts again (with TOK & Sean Paul) yet is not really achieving the impact of the DROP LEAF (which was MASSIVE in NM). Beenie Mans From Jamaica on the JAMWORLD riddim has been well received, while Lucianos Silver & Gold re-enters on the HARD TIMES. Great new material & artists out there right now: look out for Gyptian & the 10 year old (!!!) QQ on the SERIOUS TIMES riddim!
