Papa Pete's will be the first venue in Michigan to focus on the fastest growing genre in the music biz. This music has become so popular that Billboard added its own chart and MTV2 has a new weekly Reggaeton video music block. This hot tropical flavored dance music is a combination of Reggae Dancehall, Salsa, Merengue and Bomba. Different from much of the current hardcore Reggae Dancehall and Hip Hop music Reggaeton vocabulary does not include gunplay, drug dealing and sexual contents. Artists want to produce music that every one can appreciate. DJ Assane from Dakar, Senegal (West Africa) and a member of the Kalamazoo based Reggae band Zion Lion and DJ Sammy Montero from Dominican Republic who has been a cornerstone of the Club Soda entertainment scene at the Thursday night Latin dance party for nearly 10 years will be the Papa Pete's house DJs.
