TOUR BIO/PRESS RELEASE In part a celebration of the group's 4th CD release "Chant Rastafari" with Shaka Black and the forthcoming Tom O'Brien CD, DUB STATION has been a good thing waiting to happen for the West Coast. The group's been one of the most outstanding East Coast Reggae projects for over a decade, having performed as far north as Toronto; down through New England & New York City to South Carolina; and across to Dallas, Texas. Multiple appearances at major Festivals (including to 30,000 at the VT Fest '00) and backing stints with the likes of Everton Blender, Shinehead, Junior Kelly, and Wayne Wonder have put the band on equal footing, whether doing culture or dancehall. Multi-artist events have had DUB STATION share the stage with Toots, Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Sizzla, Black Uhuru, Jimmy Cliff, and many more. In keeping with their mission to always develop fresh talent - first perfected with the artist SONBEAM (out of Jamaica) - DUB STATION's backing SHAKA BLACK on this KRucial REGGAE "Giving Thanks Tour." He recently had an Elephant Man audience wheel him up 3 times. Fully conscious lyrically, SHAKA BLACK's ready to bring his unquenchable singjay energy to the West Coast for what should be the first of many upful returns! Singer/songwriter Tom O'Brien's a cross between the Beatles and Bob Marley, with skills rarely seen in the industry, and redefines roots from a whole new angle. After a far too long hiatus we are back with a new Guestbook. This time we have included some Spam Protection to keep the mess out of the guestbook. Anyway, feel free to leave your mark in our guestbook, but please refrain from abuse and offensive language. Visit our online shopping mall where you can buy cd's, dvd's, used cd's, Bob Marley merchandise, ringtones, posters and much more. Attention promoters and anyone who is looking for artists/bands/soundsystems to book them for their planned festivals and shows!! On our bookings page you'll find : BB Seaton, Luciano, Mikey General, Yami Bolo, Panache Culture, Panach' Inna Dub, Bob Marley Tribute Band, and Reggae Vibes Sound. "Jamaica's Weekly Top 20 (Singles) Hit List" - plus soundclips - is featured on our site. Also check Teacher & Mr. T's "Hot'n'Fresh Top 10". Pow Pow's first riddim production, "Celebrate", is an infectious up-tempo backdrop, which incorporates a nice Spanish style guitar picking and athmospheric strings. "Bad Bargain" is Steely & Clevie's powerful relick of Hugh 'Redman' James' wicked 1989 "Koloko/Tight Clothes" riddim . An excellent selection of pretty strong tunes is found on Stone Love Movements' "Real Rock". Frederick Ricketts relicked the Gregory Isaacs 1988 "Hard Drugs"-riddim for his Delperies label. Trojan's double album "Clancy Eccles: Freedom ~ An Anthology" is another very welcome selection dug up from the vaults. Their new album "Raw Raw Dub" shows that Bush Chemists still aspire to new sound treatments. Lee Perry's "Dubstrumentals" showcases a sound which proves just how far ahead of the game Scratch really was. The majority of Jet Star's "Gold... The Very Best Of John Holt" deals with contemporary recuts of Holt's classic tunes. "Phenomenal 11" is the title of the 11th full length album release from Japanese reggae pioneer Nahki. "TK-HIFI Meets Mafia & Fluxy ~ Day & Night" features 11 noteworthy Mixplates, i.e. extended versions (vocal plus dub) of roots tunes. **** Last week's updates at http://www.reggae-vibes.com **** "Lava Ground", I Wayne's debut album, is a strong collection of conscious reggae tunes. Their brand new "Next!" album shows that Seeed is ready to set the dancehalls and popcharts on fire again. "Siren" is a great hardcore dancehall riddim with rather exorbitant. but well working use of a siren. With "Madda Dan" UK newcomers Mr. Fox and D-Ice deliver a very promising debut production. Leroy Brown's "Colour Barrier" is one of the best re-releases of the last ten years. Blood and Fire have dug up rare Prince Far I sides for "Silver And Gold 1973-1979". Trojan continue with their apparently relentless mission to issue their entire back catalogue with the release of the "Roots Reggae Box Set". Josie Mel's album "Rasta Still De' Bout" is absolutely recommended for anyone who likes rootsy riddims, cultural lyrics and fine singing. "Rodeo" is Germaican Records' first own one riddim album in their new 'Riddims Stars' series. Martin Campbell returns with "Showcase", a low key compilation of a selection of old tunes. The Messenjah Music label debuts with a 12inch release featuring pieces from Kenny Knots, Rootz Dimentionz and Apocalypse Dub Faction. "Old Skool" is one of the latest riddims coming from FiWi Music's production camp.
