Got way behind on various R.A.W. works. BUT June & July renewal notices will be going out today. Renewals and new memberships received in the past few weeks will go out tomorrow. Anyone who has renewed or joined R.A.W. and who did not get a R.A.W. bumpersticker since our stock was depleted, will be getting the (owed) number of bumperstickers in the mail. Going out tomorrow. June playlists for R.A.W. REGGAE will be going out tomorrow. For the period of June 17th - July 9th, submissions for the "Wha Gwaan in R.A.W.?" newsletter should be sent directly to Eric Harris (#1418) at hods@triad.rr.com Please make your Subject Header relevant to your message. Include your R.A.W. number. Text only please! We've been getting some very long submissions lately, and there have been a few requests to ask members to SHORTEN their submission to 300 words or less. I think that's about it for now....gotta get back to work...still lots to do before tomorrow's flight out. All R.A.W. members who will be attending SNWMF this year are encouraged to stop by the RAW Hospitality Booth, will which be located in the non-profit vendor section. Members can meet other members, rest their weary feet, enjoy some shade, grab some water or munchies, and learn more about being a Reggae Ambassador. Manning the booth will be the Guam posse, made up this year of Tom "Jah Son" Pearson (#33) "Ital Art" Chan (#1880) Hans "R.A.W. Dawg" Ballendorf (#1618) Dedric "Rasta" English (#1908) We also are hoping to have a few other members of the Guam posse present. Past attempts to organize a meeting of all RAW members attending SNWMF have not been successful, and I predict that with this year's extremely rootical line-up, the same will be true. There's just too much good music to catch! So stop by when you have a chance... to sign in and say hello, meet some old friends, make some new ones, grab some sustenance, or maybe sign up for a shift of manning the booth for an hour or two. Volunteers extremely welcome! Give thanks always to Warren & Gretchen Smith for their continued support of R.A.W. over the years! Maximum RAWspect!!!! Look forward to hooking up with many of you! Ever forward Tom #33 ____ | __ \EGGAE | \/ //\MBASSADORS |_|\_\<>\\ /\ORLDWIDE #33 jahson@kuentos.guam.net /_/\_\\/\/ / \//\\/ Forwarding The Reggae Vibe...Everytime! http://www.reggaeambassadors.org [3] *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= *=*=*=*=*=*=*= >From: Easy Star (R.A.W. #) Subject: RADIODREAD final LINE UP (R.A.W. #723) Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2006 16:18:43 -0500 From: Eric Smith FINAL LINE UP FOR RADIODREAD ALBUM Here is the final list of guest artists for the new Easy Star All-Stars album, Radiodread. The LA Times and Pitchfork have recently written about its upcoming August 22 release on Easy Star Records as well. But we were all surprised to pick up USA Today this morning and read that Radiohead's own Thom Yorke expressed his approval for 'Radiodread' from the stage during the first stop on the band's current US tour, Friday night, June 2, in Philadelphia. According to USA Today, "In a rare moment of onstage chatter, Yorke said he listened to Toots & the Maytals version of "Let Down" from the upcoming 'Radiodread.' It's good,' he said." http://www.shorefire.com/artists/radiodread http://www.easystar.com For more information, please contact Matt Hanks [mhanks@shorefire.com] or Alexis Tedford [atedford@shorefire.com] at Shore Fire Media: 718.522.7171. They would like to send a sincere thank you to all of the fans, promoters, fellow musicians and supporters of the movement - without all of you and your positive energy the “Get Wiser” Tour would not have been as successful, nor as enjoyable. Kicking off the tour to a packed house at Pipeline Café on Oahu, SOJA’s journey began with an explosive bang. Island hoppers then took them to the Big Island and Maui where the people showed a great appreciation for their performance. Back on the mainland, SOJA received a warm reception when they returned to familiar spots – San Diego, LA, Ventura, San Luis Obispo & San Francisco – and were thrilled to meet up with fans in new cities – Santa Cruz, Ukiah, Eugene & Portland. SOJA demonstrated to the west coast that they are a commanding force on the rise and are sure to deliver a fiery performance when they revisit California in August for Reggae on the River. Next SOJA took an amazing journey across the international dateline to the small island in the middle of the Pacific – Guam - where they were blown away by the outpouring of love and support they received from a place they had never been! Despite some morning rain and performing on a military base, SOJA was given an intense island welcome and the unforgettable opportunity to perform for almost 6,000 fans who were singing along with them through the whole show. SOJA would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Chamorro people for their gracious hospitality and embracing spirit. SOJA’s on a short break to recharge before heading back out on the road – hitting up all their favorite east coast spots – Philly, NYC, Baltimore, Ocean City, Chicago, Madison, Cleveland – and are anticipating their homecoming performance at the State Theater in Virginia!
