The transitioning of the seasons, one to another, infuses a feeling of joy as the new replaces the old. The same is true with music. Now we enter in an era where the status of many artiste changes to veteran or legendary and like a new flower the evolution of the ?new breed? emerges. Artistes such as G-Whizz, Marlon Binns, Chris Martin, Gyptian, Chezidek, Natty King, Perfect, Zahair, and Lutan Fyah are just a few of the new generation of artistes rising from the shadows and laying their talent on the line for scrutiny, acceptance and a chance for their own ?blend? to rule the air waves and dancehalls. Each in search of their destiny comes with a sound that is fresh, articulating their own life?s experiences illustrated in songs comparable to the best in the market place. G-Whizz for example delivers ?Ghetto Life? and ?No More War? inner city anthems with a global appeal for change and ?Like a Lady? a song inducing the brothers to treat the ladies with love and respect. Though we have heard similar messages before, his unique style of phrasing and expression creates euphoria, so tune in and experience the G-Whizz EXPERIENCE. DJs across the country and Europe are picking up on G-Whizz and his songs are now in rotation on several stations. Lady Cham renowned radio DJ based in Virginia and host of the popular radio shows, ?The Caribbean Connection? on WNSB Hot 91.1 FM & Vibes 24/7 internet radio stated emphatically ?he?s awesome?. As G-Whizz sound reverberates through the airwaves, the staff of Deeboz Muzik would like to big up the following radio personalities for their support, effort and feedback by way of play lists and or comments: - Mikey Assassin, NY- ?Fire Inna De City? on Caribbean Power 94.3 FM - Rupie T & Dexie B, NY ? ?Reggae Spectrum? Here are the details... [1144546469.jpg] Artist: 'Imisi (Only $13.95) Album: Forward Label: Lion of Zion Entertainment [223_t.jpg] ALBUM REVIEW: Paying homage to the roots of Jamaican music, 'Imisi (pronounced ee-mee-see) advances the genre with their landmark album "Forward" (Lion of Zion). Packed with sixteen reggae anthems, this release is refreshingly urgent yet enduring. Brothers David (Tevita Kouso Kousa) and Jubilee (Siupeli Koula) Fohe have grown tremendously as songwriters and performers since their 2003 debut album "Visions of the Father" (Lion of Zion). While some artists may struggle with the 'sophomore slump', these brothers are flourishing, taking their music to a whole new plateau. This highly anticipated sophomore effort is sure to satisfy any listener with its vibrant vocals, sophisticated songs and inventive arrangements. Just take a listen to the compelling intro on the first track "Keep on Preaching", and you'll realize that these guys are taking no prisoners. This CD was recorded entirely at the Zionic Sounds Dub Lab, in Los Angeles, CA. When approaching "Forward", award-winning producer Mark Mohr set out to replace the synthetic with the authentic. In contrast with their previous effort "Visions of the Father", Mohr opted for earthy textures and tones this time around instead of sterile digital sequencing. T his entire album boasts live instruments; drums, bass, keys, guitar, percussion and a blistering horn section--creating a full-bodied sound reminiscent of Christafari's "WordSound&Power". Backed by an all-star cast of reggae musicians (including members of Christafari), 'Imisi's sweet textured voices and distinct dancehall style command the listener's attention from the first note to the last. On Forward, 'Imisi convincingly melds Jamaican lovers' rock reggae with dancehall, seasoned with their own unique Polynesian flavor. This blend creates an international sound that is contemporary yet timeless. While Forward is primarily an English language recording, 'Imisi peppers in Jamaican patois on songs like "Purity and Truth", Tongan (their native dialect) on the "Tongan War Chant", Spanish on "Adelante" and Portuguese for the Brazilian massive on the rootsy "Israel". Fusing an unshakably God-centered message with the full intricacies of bona-fide Jamaican reggae, these Pacific Islanders from the United Kingdom of Tonga are in great contrast with the message of today's top secular reggae acts. Packed with powerful spirit-engaging tracks, Forward is an evangelical musical ministry tool like no other with lyrics that are bold statements of faith, comfort and hope. This is reggae for your soul. This mesmerizing album is loaded with inventive arrangements, melodic hooks, lush harmonies, vibrant vocals and inspiring lyrics. Stand out songs include the title track featuring Christafari, the soothing "Don't Worry," "No Other God," featuring Darrel Mansfield, and the stellar reinterpretations of "Rivers of Babylon" and "My Friend" (that previously appeared on their "Youth Exodus Live" album). There is honestly not one bad track on this album--It is all killer and no filler. If you only buy one gospel reggae album this year, make it "Forward". Pick up your copy today. YOU WON'T REGRET IT! Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 22:30:15 -0400 From: Mt. NEBO RECORDS IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BAMBU STATION SPRING TOUR BREAKS NEW GROUND! by Hector Rosario - 678-887-1912 / hector@mtneborecords.com (Washington, DC) - On April 23, 2006, Virgin Islands' reggae sensation Bambu Station commenced it's Spring 2006 Tour in San Diego, CA at the world reknowned World Beat Center's Earth Day Festival. Festival goers in San Diego and at each show since have all celebrated in amazement the energetic music and astute and provocative lyrics that characterizes this group's performances. Consistent with the band's effort to have a positive impact within the African-Amercian community, Bambu Station created quite a stir during their emotionally charged show in the desperate ghetto area of East Oakland at the Brookins AME Church. Not only was it significant to have a show in East Oakland, it was also significant that such a vocal reggae group be granted full access to a congregation in their place of worship. Expressing his own growth from the event, Brookin's Rev. Stancil proclaimed to his congregation the following day at service that "a revolution had taken place last night!" From Sacramento to San Francisco, Santa Cruz to San Diego and the other venues the band has performed at, the response has been the same. Tremendous applause; tremendous silence and tears. This Tour finds the band performing songs from its 1999 release "Congo Moon;" 2002's "Talkin' Roots - Volume I;" 2003's "One Day;" 2004;" 2005's "Talkin' Roots II" and several spirit rousing songs from their upcoming Summer 2006 release, "Break The Soil." Reggae lovers in southern California and Baltimore, Maryland can catch the last three shows on Wednesday, May 3rd at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA, Thursday, May 4th at The Key Club in Los Angeles, CA and at the Sonar Lounge in Baltimore, MD.
