Well then – here’s the show for you! Come check Soul Majestic at their hometown venue where the magic all began at Moe’s Alley on Saturday, October 7. Soul Majestic formed in the late 1990's in Santa Cruz California, solidifying around the inspiration of singer songwriter Eric Iverson (a.k.a. Eric-I) and including the talents of singer Oriana Sanders, guitarist David Lyons, and percussionist Brian Jarvis. Over the years the Soul Majestic sound has also been augmented and shaped by the influences of a cast of quality roots musicians adding base and drum touches lush background harmonies, dynamic keyboard sounds and at times live horns. Soul Majestic started out by playing local Santa Cruz and Bay Area venues, and festivals such as Earthdance, Monterey Bay Reggae Festival, SF Carnival, Reggae in the Park in San Jose, and opening up for reggae greats such as Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Don Carlos, The Wailers, and Michael Rose. They went on to spread their music to the rest of the West Coast including Oregon and Washington, on tour to support their self-titled debut CD. In recent years Soul Majestic has had the opportunity of playing many West Coast festivals such as Sierra Nevada World Music Festival '03, Reggae On the River '05, and the Bob Marley Celebrations at the Long Beach Sports Arena '03 and '04, The Warfield and the Civic Auditorium, in SF '04 and '06 and Santa Cruz Civic auditorium '06. In 2004 Soul Majestic went to Jamaica to record their second album Until That Day. They recorded at legendary Tuff Gong studios Kingston and infused the record with distinct Jamaican flavorings that could only from the authentic talents of the all star crew they recruited. Sly and Robbie added drum ad bass flavor, Anthony B blessed a combo track, beautiful percussion by Sticky Thompson and Bongo Herman, top notch horn crew, and super crisp engineering from Chris Miller, Shane Brown, and Soljie Hamilton. Recently they teamed up with conscious dancehaller Anthony B to tour the US, using part of his band and opening up the shows each evening. In November '05 the two acts toured the West Coast. Doing 14 shows in as many nights, hitting every major city in CA, OR, WA. January kicked off the next tour which would take the bands through the rest of the US hitting over 45 cities. The tour took them through the middle of the country including CO, NM, TX, AZ, MI, WY, the East Coast including NY, MA, NC, OH, FL, VT, CT and also out to Hawaii to play the islands of Kauai, Oahu, the Big Island, and Maui. Soul Majestic's music can be heard on radio stations around the world, getting airplay in places such as Guam, France, Nigeria, UK, Portugal, New Zealand, Indonesia, Germany and many more. They've shared the stage and worked with many of reggae's greatest and continue to put on dynamic live performances prompting Chuck Foster from the "Beat Magazine" to say "they are poised to inherit the top US reggae band mantle.....". The band plans to set off on a European tour and to record their next album in the coming months, as well as play local West Coast shows, so check the web site for details www.soulmajestic.com. I awoke to him unable to get up and move. I carried him to the van and took him to the vet. He had his spleen burst and had a cancerous tumour the size of a softball inside him. He was in no pain, just discomfort at the blood in his abdomen. I had taken him & Maria to the redwoods 2 days before, to one of our favorite spots on earth, where he & I & Atika had walked many times. He had so much fun... walking and running and playing and swimming etc.. He was in no pain... this was so sudden yesterday I am still in a state of shock.... I know life is unfair, but I'm still not over losing Atika Marie and that was almost 4 years ago... I thought you would like to know... Buster & Atika Marie shared RAW #914 and now they are both gone from this world... They had made a lot of friends in the Reggae community, and were at a few RAW conferences... Could you please post this on the "What Gwan in RAW" for me?
