Kane Mathis and Sahel have created a new electric band framework that dwells somewhere between the village Kora style and the dancehall. Traditional and original Kora tunes are backed in electric ensemble context that draws from traditional drum patters and breaks from the Sub-Saharan region. Repertoires from Senegal, Mali, The Gambia, and Guinea are set in a contemporary context at once new and traditional. On guitar, Kane evokes rhythms from Saharan guitar style of Ali Farka Toure to pan African highlife. I am looking for any reggae related work , that is : creating riddims and recording vocals , as a hired musician for band work as I play drums , keys and sing/rap . Or for any tour support , including Ital cooking . Right now I do odd jobs and landscaping around Oakland and Berkeley . I was raised around reggae music from when I was young as my father became involved as an Ital cook for many reggae bands , And I was raised around these sentiments . But unfortunatly our family cut us off because having long , long dreadlocks back then ( 81 ) was too wild for them . Unfortunately stemming from a car accident and people ripping me off , I have been batteling homelessness for years and , I seem to have gotten together some brilliant studio gear and it is always hard finding a trustworthy spot to have it set up . The place where it is now is at a rehersal spot in Oakland called " Reherse America " , although probobly next month this room will a shared spot so I will have 1/2 the week to use it . So if you need riddims or a musician or studio time give me a call at 510-827-6925 , P.s. we can even exchange files in e-mails and work on some hits through the internet , need some live drums ? !
