Concerts and exhibits are planned for Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Asheville,North Carolina and other locations. The first one will be at the Smoki Museum in Prescott, AZ on Saturday, Feb. 3 featuring reggae artist Casper and the 602 Band and conscious Native American band Native Roots. Radford Quamahongnewa, the "eyes, ears and tongue" of the spiritual leaders of Shungopavi, the Hopi "Mother Village," will also be speaking. All proceeds will go to the LPDC. Leonard Peltier, a talented artist and American Indian Movement (AIM) activist who has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize, has been imprisoned for over three decades after being falsely convicted of killing two FBI agents who died during a 1975 shoot-out on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, home of the Oglala Lakota. He is considered by Amnesty International, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, National Congress of American Indians, the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, among many other leaders, organizations, and private citizens, to be a political prisoner who should be immediately released. Leonard release is important to not only the Native American community but to the entire planet. No one could unite and activate the Native American community, and encourage them to revitalize and bring forward their indigenous wisdom, like Leonard. To them, he is a living symbol of their oppression. As important, Leonard's message, like that of imprisoned South African leader Nelson Mandela, is one of love for all - even the oppressor. He, like Mandela, has the moral authority to call us all to love - a call that is much needed now. CLICK HERE FOR THE LPDC SITE http://www.leonardpeltier.net/ OUR JOURNEY TO MAYALAND Last month, we journeyed to the Guatemala Highlands with our daughters, Julie and Alicia, to continue our spiritual search for other messages of One Love. Our journeys to Jamaica from 2000-2005 to bring forward the Rasta/reggae/Bob Marley message of One Love (see our books Rasta Heart and The Gathering of the Healers) led us to the Hopis, who have been big reggae fans for over two decades, and to bring forward their message as the "Covenant People," the first society to become truly and completely Hopi - "peaceful people" (see our book, The Beauty Path). They led us to the Maya, who Hopis believe were once Hopis who, during their millennia-long migrations, abandoned their large cities (a phenomenon that scientist have never been able to explain) to continue their Divinely-guided migration that eventually ended in Hopiland in Arizona in 1100AD. This was confirmed by the Maya shaman, Balum Canam, whom we met in Guatemala at the Activation Maya group, where we spoke during our visit. We are planning a new book called 2012:A Mayan Message of One Love. In Guatemala, we were led to contact Luis Arturo Gonzalez, a guide at the ancient Maya ruins of Tikal. Luis is more than just a guide. He is a spiritual teacher who understands the Maya legacy from all facets. We spent hours with him wandering Tikal, which the Maya believe is the center of the spiral of all life on the planet. He said that the Maya built Tikal and other ceremonial cities as a way of leaving us a guidepost as to the changes that will be occurring as we leave the "Fourth World" and enter the "Fifth World" in 2012. This transition is not to be considered the end of life, as the Maya believed nothing ended but everything continues in cycles. Rather this period was the end of life as we know it. They believe that we are leaving an age of conflict, separation and competition and dawning a new age of love and spirituality. CLICK HERE FOR ACTIVATION MAYA WEBSITE http://www.ixcanaan.org/ActivationMaya/lightworkers.html THE ANCIENT MAYA CEREMONIAL CITY OF TIKAL Luis said the best way to prepare personally for this transition is to strive towards love in all our relationships. This is the same instructions given by the Hopis and the elder Rastas. He also highly recommends healthy eating and yoga as a personal discipline. Luis reminded us that this is not a period to be feared but one to be celebrated and welcomed. And once again, a common thread ran through our search. When I asked Luis if Bob Marley was popular in the Highlands, he answered with a smile, "There is not one home in all of this area that does not have his music." As I wandered the marketplace in nearby Santa Elena a few days later, Bob's music was playing over a large sound system, setting the vibe for a busy market day in this Spanish-speaking village. ROSITA ARVIGO & MAYAN HEALING While we were in Guatemala we crossed over to Belize to meet with Dr. Rosita Arvigo. Dr. Arvigo, an American who has lived for over two decades in Mayaland, works as a naprapathic physician and she is a master herbalist with over 20 years of field and laboratory research experience. She is a recognized authority on Maya healing techniques and medicinal plants, and has been teaching these techniques in the United States and Europe for over ten years. It has been Dr. Arvigo's passion and quest to bring the simple and safe healing techniques of the Central American "sobaderas" to North America and Europe where they are so needed. Toward this goal, she has spent the last several decades in Central America, where she has studied with dozens of traditional healers and midwives, the most notable of whom was Don Elijio Panti, the renowned Maya shaman of Belize. She is the founder and director of Ix Chel Tropical Research Foundation in San Ignacio, Belize, an organization dedicated to the preservation and study of medicinal rainforest plants. Additionally, Dr. Arvigo worked for nine years with Dr. Michael Balick of The New York Botanical Garden to collect medicinal plants for research at The National Cancer Institute. Her books include SPIRITUAL BATHING: Healing Rituals & Traditions from Around the World, SASTUN: My Apprenticeship With a Maya Healer, RAINFOREST REMEDIES: 100 Healing Plants of Belize, RAINFOREST HOME REMEDIES: The Maya Way to Heal Your Body and Replenish Your Soul. Among other things, Rosita told us that the high levels of estrogen in chicken to make them mature in 6 rather than the normal 24 weeks is the cause of reproductive problems in over 40% of couples. Both men and women now have artificially high levels of estrogen which greatly reduces the chances of conceiving. She also said that most all back problems, which doctors treat with either painkillers or surgery or both, can be treated with alignment exercises and stress reduction. Presently, she is teaching classes in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage. She has spoken with indigenous healers around the world that use similar abdominal and uterine massage techniques (the cure for the "wandering womb" often created by heavy lifting, stress, miscarriage, rape, abortion, etc.). These techniques support and enhance health and wellness and practitioners report that many common health care symptoms are alleviated by these techniques, including painful periods and ovulation, bladder and yeast infections, miscarriages and difficult pregnancies, infertility, PMS/depression with menstruation, ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids, prostate swelling and erectile dysfunction in men, headaches, migraines, digestive disorders, low energy, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, Chron's disease, constipation, and other health issues. A list of trained practitioners in your area can be found on her website, www.arvigomassage.com. CLICK HERE FOR ROSITA ARVIGO'S WEBSITE http://www.arvigomassage.com WE'RE NOW ON YOUTUBE! It chronicles that events that lead up to "The Gathering of the Healers: The Healing of the Nation" press conference held at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, Jamaica on Feb. 4, 2002. Authors Robert & Julia Roskind and 7 well-known Jamaican teachers of love (healers) invited the citizens of Jamaica to be the first country ever to heal itself with one love. Since then, the murder rate, which had been climbing for 14 straight months, has dropped 20%. In this new book, you will meet many of Jamaica's best known personalities, including: Mama B Marley Booker (Bob Marley's mother), Rita Marley (Bob's wife), Julian Marley, Damien Marley (Junior Gong), Kymani Marley, Stephanie Marley, Sharon Marley, Luciano, Denroy Morgan (Morgan Heritage), Tony Rebel, Mortimo Planno (Bob's Rasta mentor), Dr. Dennis Forsythe, Antonnette Haughton (Founder of Jamaica's UPP party), Prime Minister Patterson and Opposition Leader Edward Seaga. An amazing journey! An amazing event! "I thank you again for writing this book about love. It will guide many to a better understanding of Jamaica and Rasta and was much needed."--DJ BIG JIM SNIDOW, KUCI 88.9FM, Irvine, California CLICK HERE TO ORDER OUR BOOKS AT 50% OR MORE http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/tools/view_newsletter.php?newsletter_id=1038834849 The counterculture of the 60s and 70s has been viewed as everything from naive to hedonistic. However, most of these views were formed by observing the movement from the outside. "Memoirs of an Ex-Hippie" offers a vastly different perspective, one developed from within. After graduating college in 1968, Robert Roskind hit the road for seven years. Roskind's travels lead him into the heart of the counterculture--to Esalen Institute, Tassajara Hot Springs, Big Sur, Vancouver Island, the communes of Oregon and North Carolina, Altamont Pop Festival, Mt. Shasta, the Haight-Ashbury and the "motherland"--Northern California. His personal odyssey, sometimes profane and funny, sometimes profound and serious, reveals this tumultuous era as a cultural and spiritual renaissance that birthed many of the solutions to problems humanity now faces. "This look back, while very personal, is also the archetype for a whole generation whose quest for freedom and the meaning of life led to some mind-blowing experiences."--Skip Stone author of "Hippies from A to Z" CLICK HERE TO ORDER OUR BOOKS AT 50% OR MORE http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/tools/view_newsletter.php?newsletter_id=1038834849 Overcome your fears, accept your partner's differences, and forgive the hurts that creep into long-term relationships with Robert Roskind's IN THE SPIRIT OF MARRIAGE. Also over the years my many postings have directly brought work and have helped me to build my business. Jah Freedom Recording has become well known in the Jamaican reggae industry. On a daily basis we host artistes, musicians, international sound systems. The current location in Negril on the West End is a rental which the business has more than outgrown. I am pleased to announce that in August I found a beautiful piece of land on the Westland Mountain, just down the road in Negril and have begun to build a big new complex and recording facility. This beautiful location overlooks the Negril coastline...We will eventually offer comfortable accommodations for bands, musicians, producers, engineers and artistes. Now I get to the point...My current sources of funding have been outstripped by the construction. My dream is to create a resort for the reggae community, right in the heart of Negril. This location already has a lovely farm growing fresh vegetables. Eventually there will be tropical gardens, a large fish pond with waterfalls, and comfortable guest houses for those coming to record in the inspirational serenity of Negril's Westland Mountain. Many of the artistes we deal with have offered assistance by doing dubs for soundsystems, at reduced cost to help create a larger volume of work. Other artistes are coming through and offering blessings and eventually a big show will take place in Negril to benefit the project. I have learned over the years in this business that asking your universe for what you want often brings just what you want. Well I asked the Most High to show me how to make this project get completed, so we can begin offering the reggae community a home here in Negril...I am making a general request for grants, low interest financing, or gifts that will bring Jah Freedom Recording Company many steps closer to the vision I have for my place. The designs, videos of the progress on the land and even narration of my goals, and dreams are on videos which have been posted on my ftp server...you can e mail Steve at jah freedom dot com for the server address if you are truly interested. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far but I would appreciate the lovers of reggae music to give some assistance as this vision is coming to life. The compilation itself has been nominated for Best Reggae Album, to be selected February 11th, 2007 at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. Only 5 titles are in the running - click here to see the other nominees - and apparently you, too can join the Recording Academy and vote. Video Promotion Begins for 2007 In a world increasingly responsive to video images, artist Abijah is on the verge of making substantial inroads. His music video "Overcome" is available on JustEnoughTV, MSN.com, YouTube, and MySpaceVideo. You can also see his original hit "Revelation" at JustEnoughTV, MSN.com, and MySpaceVideo. A video's being edited as we speak (in Jamaica) of Abijah's own Peppa3-production "Tribute to the Martyrs" - a version of the Marvin Gaye classic "Abrahm, Martin, and John" - which in this case bigs up the greats which have made Reggae what it is today. A brand new shoot's in the works for one of the "Fatis" songs featured on the forthcoming JetStar release (see column to right). Some and eventually all the above will become available at Reggae4i.com & on a DVD electronic press kit (EPK) to include not only music videos, but Abijah's bio, contact info, live footage, and interview(s). Physical distribution for broadcast is planned for early '07 to all video outlets, including VH1, MTV, and BET. Festival & tour buzz begins for Abijah & Dub Station In view of his Grammy nomination, his own Peppa3 pre-releases, and the new JetStar CD only now breaking the airwaves, Abijah is poised & ready to appear on Jamaican, U.S. and European Festival stages. Dub Station, Abijah's primary backing band, has toured extensively with him. In 2006 alone, they've spanned the entire West Coast, Hawaii, and Colorado; as well New England down to New York, and across to the Midwest. More U.S. tours are likely to begin as early as February & March, extending into the summer, but the biggest move will be to reach overseas to Europe and beyond. As always, visit www.Reggae4i.com, contact KRucial Reggae management at 617-771-5119, or Reply to this email for more info & booking, we look forward to hearing from you! Leading international Reggae label JetStar - out of the U.K. - is about to release a brand new Abijah album entitled "Never Lose Faith." Featured will be 19 extraordinary songs produced by the renowned "Fatis" (Phillip Burrell), who's company Xterminator can claim much credit for the meteoric rise of artists like Luciano and Sizzla. Radio response has been one of resounding support, just for the pre-release demo. We hope to offer sound samples shortly on Reggae4i.com (for listening only), and to become increasingly involved in supporting both the label & producer in the promotion of this project. JetStar boasts "The World's Largest Reggae Distribution" and though it hasn't yet posted the album to its site, you can contact JetStar (or your favorite Reggae distributor) to pre-order your copy today, or email them at feedback@jetstar.co.uk (tell 'em we sent you). With this type of support from across the Atlantic, we expect the long-anticipated follow-up to Abijah's European Festival circuit of a few years ago: a new promotional tour of Europe in 2007! #contact_info# Reggae4i.com · PO Box 440334 · Somerville · MA · 02144 *********************************************************************** In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty Forward the Reggae Vibe...Every Time !
