PLEASE PRINT YOUR NAME, SIGN, AND DATE HERE _______________________________________________________________________ QUALIFICATION/MISSION STATEMENTS Executive Board of Directors Positions: * Secretary - Daniel Frankston QUALIFICATIONS: Typing 60 words/minute; taking shorthand and making a really good cup of coffee. My day job requires that I keep close track of records (often ones that are many years old), provide notices as required by law and do lots of communicating. MISSION: I have been involved in reggae music for the past 30 years, first as a DJ (1976-1980), then working in reggae distribution in northern California. In 1999 I began broadcasting on the internet at ireggae.com, where I have hosted The Uprising for the past 8 years. I have also built and maintained approximately 12 other websites livicated to forwarding reggae music through the internet, and have a Œlivicated web server¹ that hosts another 20 ital web sites. I also work for the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, where I am in charge of publicity and promotion, help to bring young, upcoming conscious artists to the festival. I also maintain snwmf.com, as well as moderate the (rather busy) forum. Given the current status or RAW, I believe the ³skill set² that most qualifies me for the position is my ability to LISTEN and COMMUNICATE effectively. As a member of RAW, I would READ carefully all communications directed towards me and other Board Members, and promptly RESPOND to inquiries and suggestions from the membership. Those of you who already know me know that I live to help promote reggae music in any way that I am able to. I will leave it to others to decide if those efforts have had a positive impact on the reggae community. But, if given the opportunity, I will vow to work tirelessly to help RAW become the reality that Papa Pilgrim dreamed of it becoming many, many years ago each and every day that I am a Board Member. I pledge that, as secretary of RAW, I would: 1. Promote Board transparency by making the minutes of Board Meetings easily available to all members; 2. Personally insure that all RAW members are informed of actions taken by the Board on at least a quarterly basis, and hopefully more frequent because the Board will be more active; 3. NEVER vote to pay RAW Board Members or Directors for fulfilling their duties as Board Member or Director. 4. NEVER forget that, first and foremost, RAW is a collective of individuals coming together from the four corners of the world in celebration of their love of reggae music. * Treasurer - Joanie Pearson EXPERIENCE: I have been the Treasurer for RAW for the last 8 years. I have enjoyed my responsibilities of keeping track of where all the money goes to. Though, it can be time consuming, knowing I am doing something for reggae music makes it all worthwhile. I have completed my BA in Accounting and I am currently going to school to become an Occupational Therapist. MISSION: I have a strong passion for reggae music and the people that relate to it. Spreading the reggae vibe every time is what my life is all about. General Directors Positions: * Public Relations & Media Director - Frances Nwajei QUALIFICATIONS: As a natural born Reggae Ambassador who has love and respect for reggae music and artists world wide, I bring the following contributions to the table. Experience: Familiarity with accessing various media outlets; Ability to develop Press Kits and forward Press Releases; Interfacing with Radio Networks, Promoters and Artists; Event Coordination, including budget analysis & creating & maintaining databases/spreadsheets for organizational purposes. Skill-Set: Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills (ability to successfully interface with many cultures), Well-traveled internationally. Creative & Detail oriented. Proficient in Windows environment. MISSION: To connect existing & new members around the world to a better experience from the global array of talented reggae artists. To broaden the audience base using conscious music to affect a sense of renewed social responsibility, empowerment and positivity within today's society. To increase the support of artists, aspiring and already established. * Web Site Director - Gary Garrett QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of HTML, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript Positive working relationship with the current host of the RAW Website & Email Listserv (ElectricEmbers). MISSION: To improve the usefulness of the site to RAW Members by developing more database driven tools. * Online Communication Director - Robert 'Peace' Wright QUALIFICATIONS: Search Google for ³search engine marketing expert² - I've been #1 there for four+ years now. I am not yet sure of all that the position will entail, but I'm willing to give it a try. I am one of the top rated SEO's [Search Engine Optimization] iand SEM's [Search Engine Marketers] in the world, so I may be ³over-qualified," but still am interested in helping. MISSION: I am mostly an optimization and Marketing expert. From this position at RAW, I may be able to also help you in my areas of expertise; content optimization, usability, and search marketing. Especially if there are other volunteers who can execute tasks. These volunteers would learn valuable skills and like have time to implement them. Performing Artists Director - Frankie Moniz QUALIFICATIONS: I have been a performing artist myself for over 10 years with at least 6 years experience in the Reggae scene, and have a Bachelor of Music Performance degree. I have been on several tours both nationally and internationally. I am familiar with the procedures involved in making a show happen from rehearsing to advancing the show. Also, I have worked in customer service positions where I was able to develope the necessary people skills. MISSION: I envision being able to offer the best advice to reggae performing artist by drawing from my own experiences over the years. I'd like to see more artists be able to work together for the common cause of uniting Reggae people worldwide. RAW could be a living example of how the world could work in the future and much of the responsibility lies with the performing artist as the message is in the music itself. I'd like to help fellow reggae artist realize the importance of what we do for the world. * Committed Reggae Fans Director - David Bauman QUALIFICATIONS: The Original RAW committed fan who through the years became one of the Midwest United States¹ largest Reggae music promoters. I have been with RAW from day one and will always be a committed fan first. MISSION: I would like to see committed fans more active in the organization: making them more aware of where they fit in; developing ways to see more action from the committed fan base. Maybe a CF link on MySpace and the RAW web site would be in order. My first goal as CRFC would to develop the Ultimate Street Team within RAW. Through RAW's web site touring bands could be connected with RAW CF throughout the world who would be willing to help promote shows in their area. Not only posting posters but contact the local media to help get the word out. * DJ & Labels Director (2 applicants, select one from below): - Christopher Jahmeek QUALIFICATIONS: I have experience for this position from many years of work as a humble DJ playing pure Reggae radio shows both on FM(wlfm) and AM(kxeg) stations in my earlier years. So I know already how the radio promotion program functions on a level for most broadcasting stations. I also support private, online radio links such as the famous Shoutcast that you may have heard of and outdated public audio web-casting where I add to experience through different networks such as the original Mycaster, that was aired live to members free of charge over internet until the commercial industry put pressure on these hosts to charge a straight money fee to all its users by force of political law around the year 2000. These sort of personal stations keep the music true to the message (what ever that may be) and the FCC for one, out of editing programs (if you know what I mean), in the age of the Clear Channel radio scandal that effects airwaves in every state in the USA and further. I also must mention/big up the Upfront Roots Network out of Geneva, Switzerland who gave me a chance as first listed American DJ with (his) own on-line radio show for another example listed here. This opportunity blessed the I even more with aid to an international audience Online by plugging Reggae dub music (which consisted mostly of independent record labels pressing vinyl records). I have been working as a sound system producer in the Phoenix, Arizona metro-area over the past eleven years, which has brought I inspiration to join Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide a few years back (as a pro disk jockey team over the kind management of Amy Achtner). This adventure has also helped me gain extra experience working with other established artists in the field of today¹s music business, not only as a producer but as a live show performer as well, supporting live concerts on the front line. In the local Arizona scene, I have put much work into promoting the local circle here (in the Southwest), plus groups that tour through town alike. What I accomplished was making sure of the important things as a needed ambassador to the reggae movement (that for most part has been abandoned by the main stream). I¹m dealing here with organizing the straight media design in general on events for the livicated followers, along with communicating to many friendly venues, booking agents and the band or solo-artist in person if needed, to over see all the needed accommodation. By doing all this sort of behind-the-curtain extra-credit type of work, I have gained much wisdom into forwarding positive operating promotions in this area as One with the people. As a long time Reggae lover and vinyl record collector that is very familiar with most major reggae labels in today¹s industry, not to mention many independent titles around the globe I support, I can relate easy on all the issues that may come as a surprise to others while taking on this key task in the DJ/Label department with Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide. I spend a lot of time doing computer work already on Windows such as current e-mail lists, up & downloading files, website building and to be basic, staying in touch with the world on an almost day-to-day basis to stay current in this crucial time. So short to say above, the extra effort to help a good cause such as R.A.W. won¹t effect or change my life style too much on my offered service to you. As I look at the mission clear now. I will be doing something for you that I love to do already in my daily routine as a pro disk jockey on the Board. MISSION: I plan, if elected as DJ & Label Director, to uphold the key position with pride on service to the members of R.A.W. as best I know how possible for the future. - Ras Danny Fallon QUALIFICATIONS: I have been a reggae radio programmer at a community radio station since mid-1999, so I know a bit about communications with reggae records labels and do have stable relationships with many to date. In this capacity I have, for many years now, been in constant contact with reggae labels with the intent to facilitate an on-going communication with them that ensures that I have up-to-date release materials and information to pass on to my listeners (potential buyers of said music). MISSION: My real mission statement is the same as that for my radio broadcasts, to forward the reggae vibes, just as it is for RAW, most especially to those who are in prison within earshot of my broadcast. That aside, I will work to help all RAW DJ¹s have access to ALL RAW members¹ recorded materials in order that my mission can and will be of fruitionŠwe can all help each other realize our own individual missions! I feel I can bring some fire into the DJ & Labels Director position that has been lacking: to wit - a more frequent and on-going actual contact with DJ¹s in order to make sure the music is getting to the ears of the listeners who are potential buyers of the music in questionŠ Those of you who already know me know that it is my mission in life to help promote reggae music in any way that I am able to. I vehemently promise to work tirelessly to help RAW become the Premier Reggae Ambassadorship that Papa Pilgrim dreamed of it becoming many long years ago (around the time that he gave me an honorary membership to RAW because of my low-paying prison wages) each and every day that I am a Board Member. * Offline Communication Director - open (please read below & apply if interested...) The Off-line position received no applicants, and though our current Off-line Director is willing to continue if no one new (and qualified) steps forward, we have decided to leave the position open for another 2 months (through the 2007). So if you, or someone you know would like to apply for the position (we're including the job description & application protocol here), please submit your application. But be advised that if there are multiple contestants, the Board will be selecting the most qualified applicant, as opposed to them being chosen via balloted elections (since the original submission period has closed). Off Line Communications Coordinator job description: a. Welcome new RAW Members who don¹t have access to the Internet (i.e., are ³off line²). b. Provide, upon request, information on possible avenues to get on line (no cost and low cost options are available!), as well as send information packets to Off Line individuals who are interested in joining RAW. c. Assemble, print and distribute information and communications between on line members to off line Members; likewise furnishing off line prospective members with interest in RAW with information about the organization (in both cases, budgetary & time constraints may limit what can be done, and how often). d. Provide, with a team of RAW volunteers, the opportunity for off line members to post their communications to on line Members and to the RAW Forum. You may download the application form from: http://www.reggaeambassadors.org/elections/ OR Each application must include: 1. The Candidate's Name & Full Contact Information, including Email Address; 2. The Candidate¹s RAW Membership Number (or membership fee & application form, if candidate is not currently a member); 3. The Position Desired (Members can only run for one position at a time); 4. The qualifications, experience & skill-set makes which makes the person right for the position; 5. A Mission Statement detailing what the applicant envisions doing and contributing to RAW if elected to the position; 6. A signed statement by the applicant stating: ³I have read the Bylaws; I have and use email every (or almost every) day; this nomination is being made with my permission; and I will serve and perform as required if elected to the Board.² The following may also be included (or requested by the existing Board): recommendations from fellow RAW members, previous colleagues or others who can vouch for your talents. Whether self-submitting or doing so for another individual, forms must be received by Kyle Russell on or before December 31, 2007 by email to tap@guam.net or via postal service (utilizing the Certified, Return Receipt Requested services to insure receipt) to: Tom Pearson 911 N.
