From:
We have added EIGHT new albums to our massive webstore in recent weeks
including highly anticipated releases by Stitchie, Tiko and Solomon Jabby.
Here are the details:
Artist: Stitchie
Album: Real Life Story
Genre: Dancehall / Culture
Label: Drum & Bass Music
Price: $15.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Stitchie, (formerly Lt. Stitchie) is a prolific artist who needs no
introduction. From his impressive secular career to his Christian conversion
and subsequent impact on the gospel reggae scene, this artist has proven
time and again that his talent is dedicated to the Lord. With two other
Gospel albums to his credit, he now brings forth what is unquestionably his
best album to date. With 17 full-length songs and 3 interludes, "Real Life
Story," is a complete mix of dancehall, gospel and roots reggae. Songs like
"Lord Almighty," "Praise the Lord," "In Di Dancehall," "Mercy," and "Gangsta
Life," prove that Stitchie hasn't lost his hardcore dancehall edge. These
deejay cuts rise above the current crop of secular dancehall recordings with
excellent production incorporating live instruments into the hardcore
riddims. Two thick roots reggae songs, "Hold Di Faith," and "I Pray," are
tremendously inspiring and two of the best tracks on the album! While
portions of his previous two gospel albums may have been better received by
the chu rch than the world and a bit too homogenized for the streets, this
CD hits below the belt and holds no punches! On it you will find the former
Lieutenant (and Governor) rediscovering his original signature dancehall
style that made him so famous in the dancehall arena years ago. This time
around he is sanctifying it for the Lord without compromising the integrity
of his lyrics or sound. Stitchie's "Real Life Story" is unquestionably one
of the best Gospel Reggae releases of 2007 and sure to garner many awards.
Excellent production, lyrics, songwriting and delivery further solidify
Stitchie's place at the forefront of gospel reggae. Every gospel reggae fan
should pick up a copy of this album. Order yours today!
Artist: Tiko Angelos
Album: The Proclamation
Genre: Dancehall / Ragga Hip Hop / Culture
Label: Flow City Records
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Most GospelReggae.com fans probably recall first hearing Tiko in 2002 on
Lion of Zion's "Royal Priesthood," as one half of the dancehall duo "Tiko &
Gitta." Over the past five years these two artists have traversed separate
paths and grown in their own unique styles. Since the split, there's no
doubt you've heard Tiko Angelos on compilations such as "Double Trouble,"
and quot;Turn It Up Volume 1," but nothing could have prepared you for this
full-length 15 track offering from one of Trinidad's brightest stars. On
"The Proclamation," Produced by Sherwin Gardner, Tiko blends some hip-hop
flavor into his rapid-fire dancehall style with excellent results. Songs
like "Everything" featuring Genisa," "Identity," "Get a Life," and "Passion
+ Praise," are sure to blow your speakers, while the old school dancehall of
"Wardrobe of Religion," and the rootsy hip-hop sound of "Living Water," keep
the message strong. It's safe to say that Tiko Angelos has never sounded
better. He is a brilliant lyricist with so much to say. For the greatest
impact his lyrics deserve to be sifted through with a fine-toothed comb.
Only then do you get the full impact of each song and truly appreciate his
witty vernacular. On "The Proclamation," Tiko delivers an album that is both
humoro us and entertaining while delivering sobering Scriptural truths over
bangin' dancehall and raggamuffin hip-hop riddims. His debut solo album "The
Proclamation," aptly showcases his message, vocals, and overall talent. This
album is a surefire hit--grab your copy today!
Artist: Solomon Jabby
Album: Firmly Planted
Genre: Roots
Label: Altarsound Music
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
For almost a decade, reggae artist Solomon Jabby has been studying and
perfecting his craft of classic dub and roots reggae. With two full-length
dub albums already to his credit, Solomon has earned a reputation in the
worldwide dub and reggae communities as a crafty producer and one of the few
modern reggae artists seeking to recapture the "old school" roots sound. On
Solomon Jabby's third release, "Firmly Planted," he proves that traditional
roots reggae production still has a place in the modern reggae sound-scape.
"Firmly Planted," showcases Solomon's excellent songwriting abilities and
commitment to the classic reggae sound. This, his first vocal album, pays
homage to the golden days of Jamaican harmony groups with clear influences
from such artists as The Wailing Souls, The Congos, and The Gladiators. Deep
lyrical content permeate dense vocal h armonies, perfectly complementing
Solomon's organic production techniques. Exceptional musicianship and superb
arrangements make this album a full, well rounded work. "Firmly Planted,"
proves what a modern artist can achieve when he finds the balance between
past and present. Solomon has successfully found a way to stay true to the
1970's reggae sound while simultaneously pushing the art of roots and dub to
higher heights. His passion for roots reggae and his personal belief in
Yeshua the Messiah, combine to give this album an authentic feel with a
distinctively positive message. "Firmly Planted" urges it's listeners to
examine the "soil" of their hearts. A heart that is receptive and open to
Jesus' teaching, wisdom, and love will produce a bountiful harvest and they
will be like a tree "firmly planted" by rivers of water, selah!
Artist: Kristine Alicia
Album: Get Ready
Genre: Roots / Caribbean Praise / Dancehall / Gospel
Label: Judah Scribe Music
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Ever wonder what would happen if you mixed Lauryn Hill with Chevelle
Franklin and added in a healthy dose of live reggae instrumentation?
Kristine Alicia answers that question with her debut release "Get Ready".
The opening song, "Jehovah Jireh," starts the album on a high note with a
driving steppers beat and huge, thick vocal delivery. Tracks two and three
slow things down just enough to hear the full detail of Alicia's beautiful
voice. Organic dancehall hypes up the energy with "Praise Dance," "One True
Jah," and "All I Need." Other songs such as "Ask Me," and "Speak Lord," are
truly beautiful songs with touching, heartfelt spiritual messages. Produced
by the infamous Nigel Lewis, Kristine Alicia's "Get Ready" album is a rare
treat--a mix of vocal talent, strong production, and songwriting that is
truly hard to find. Every single Gospel Reggae fan should grab up this album
without thinking twice!
Artist: Various Artists
Album: The Revelation
Genre: Dancehall / Ragga Hip Hop / Hip Hop
Label: One Rib Publica tions
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
The Bahamas has a thriving Gospel Reggae scene and "The Revelation," is a
great example of the tremendous talent that this beautiful set of islands
generates. With most of the production coming from the Lion of Judah camp,
"The Revelation," mixes dancehall, roots reggae, and hip-hop with a straight
up Gospel message... a message of the Revelation of Jesus Christ! The LOG
Rap Squad kick off the album with "Eyes Ain't Seen," a hyped up Southern
hip-hop song with a big chanting chorus. Manifest keeps the hip-hop energy
alive with "We Back," a perfect mix of a bangin' beat and intense delivery.
Of course dancehall is fully represented with DJ Counselor's "Praise Him,"
and Mr Lynx's "Prepare for th e Revelation." Avalanchee also blazes a
spiritual fire over a unique rendition of the Gang War Riddim with their
song "No White Flags." Monty G represents for the roots fans with "Times,"
and the lesser known Ricardo Clark keeps things cool and sweet with his song
"Last Days." Also worth mentioning is the R&B crossover track "All We Need
is Love," by N Ken. This beautiful track is sure to inspire you. "The
Revelation," is definitely recommended and should please those Gospel Reggae
fans who appreciate a mix of dancehall, roots, and hip-hop. Pick up your
copy today!
Artist: Lynette White
Album: New Life New Song
Genre: Roots
Label: Anusong Ministries
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
On her sophomore recording, "New Life, New Song," Lynette White delivers
another beautiful work of praise and satisfies the hunger of fans left by
the wake of her first 8 song EP. Utilizing her mind-blowing vocal ability,
Lynette traverses from smooth roots reggae to hard-hitting dancehall to
tender Caribbean praise. Every roots reggae fan is sure to love "Worthy of
Praise," "How Great Thou Art," "Atmosphere," and "Eres Mi Respirar."
Dancehall aficionados should definitely check out "I Lift My Hands,"
"Blessed Assurance - Emancipation Mix," and "Goodness of Jesus," where
Lynette even gives Chevelle Franklyn a run for her money! For lovers of
Caribbean praise and worship, this album is a special treat, with songs like
"Wherever You Go," "Change," and "Walk of Faith." Produced by Kelda
"Timeless" Sweeting in the Bahamas, "New Life, New Song," is the first
full-length album by this multidimensional artist. This is gospel reggae at
its highest quality! Be sure to purchase your copy today!
Artist: Shadrach
Album: Stand Firm
Genre: Dancehall / Ragga Hip Hop / Culture
Label: Righteous Corner Ltd
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
A couple years ago, Shadrach's debut album "Ashes to Ashes," became a
GospelReggae.com best seller. Now, on his sophomore release, Shadrach keeps
his momentum going with an excellent new project. With "Stand Firm,"
Shadrach stays true to his hardcore dancehall roots (in a style similar to
Spragga Benz) while also mixing in roots reggae and traces of hip-hop.
Kicking off the record is the title track, an energetic pepper-seed style
dancehall tune with a clear message--Stand Firm! Track 2, "Celebrate," lifts
the energy even more as Shadrach chats hardc ore Christian lyrics over a
rumbling dancehall riddim. The dancehall energy doesn't stop as songs such
as "Face The Truth," "No Longer," "Thief In The Night," and "Born Again Part
II," keep the pace with militant lyrics over heavy bass and bangin' riddims.
In contrast, songs such as "Marriage," "Jesus Christ," "Salvation," and
"Bless Him," provide perfect roots backdrops for Shadrach's thick vocal
delivery and conscious Christian lyrics. Surprisingly, Shadrach's incredible
talent shines through equally well on roots reggae and dancehall reggae
tunes alike. It's no wonder that this U.K. gospel reggae ambassador is
blowing up all over the world! This album is easily the strongest release in
recent memory here at GospelReggae.com and is recommended for every Gospel
reggae fan!
Artist: Various Artists
Album: Dancehall Outta Belize
Genre: Dancehall
Label: New Beginnings Productions
Price: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Though Belizean reggae artists haven't had a huge presence on
GospelReggae.com, the Belizean reggae scene has been steadily growing with a
host of talented artists and producers on the rise. On "Dancehall Outta
Belize," GospelReggae.com fans are able to get a goo d feel for this
exciting scene. Though this compilation is mainly composed of dancehall
tracks, there is a small roots presence on the album with songs such as "No
More Gods" by Spiritual Chef. Over a strong bass line and smooth one-drop
riddim, Spiritual Chef sings in a culture/sing-jay style about his
dedication to Christ. Track 8, "Fill This Vessel," by the well-known
D-Revelation is another strong roots track with a lush, uplifting, chorus.
The dancehall that dominates this album can definitely stand up to the
dancehall from other Caribbean countries with artists such as Mikal, Jacob
Diggz, and Lady Indie flexing their talents on songs such as "Been There
Done That," "Tell Them No," and "You And I." One this is certain about this
release: every featured artist has a strong desire to serve Christ and use
their talents to the fullest. This release should definitely satisfy
dancehall fans and even some roots fans too!
Blessings in Christ,

Greetings JohnStone Fans,

http://cdbaby.com/cd/jstonereggae3
Washington, DC (August 24th, 2007) Artfully produced, beautifully lyrical
and thoroughly original, Innocent Children represents a cohesive blend of
five personal perspectives on reggae, enlivened and emboldened by rock,
gospel, R and jazz influences which reflect a lifetime of admiration and
study of music. Innocent Children is simultaneously an authentic throwback
to the 1970's - replete with hammond B3 sounds, wah-wah guitar, funk
influenced drumming - as well as a fresh and innovative approach to ! modern
roots reggae music, with unique song structures, melodic hooks and song
writing savvy.
To help create a strong roots reggae base, JohnStone recruited Jalani Horton
(Mt. Nebo Records, Bambu Station) to record Innocent Children. As with their
previous record Eyes Open, JohnStone tapped legendary engineer Jim Fox
(Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru, Israel Vibration, Eek-a-Mouse) to lend his
considerable mixing and dubbing talents.
The title track Innocent Children was first conceptualized and written by drummer/singer Alfred Adams in February of 2004, while reading reports on
the coup d'etat in Haiti. Musically, Innocent Children is a throwback to
the late 70's reggae sound, while lyrically the song is a powerful
indictment against the use of child soldiers. Other songs on Innocent
Children range from straight ahead, inspirational anthems such as Peace and
Love and Harm! ony to the moody, early 60's Coltrane influenced opus Black
Spirit Swells, which shows off Benjamin Crandall's tenor sax chops and
bassist Brendan DeMelle's melodic bass playing. One of the album's
highlights, Black Spirit Swells (A. White) is inspired by and dedicated to
the life of Fela Anikulapo Kuti. The song also references the plight of
African peoples who were enslaved in the new world, and their constant hope
for a better human existence in the face of desperate and sub-human
conditions. A tribute to Jamaican singers who have fought for equality and
justice through their art, Clinton's Lament represents lead singer Andre
White at his lyrical best. On Trod Your Own, Alfred Adams and keyboardist
Joseph Manekin have composed a powerful, funky tune that preaches
persistence and independence in pursuit of one's goals.
Innocent Children represents the distillation of years of togetherness as a
band, drawing from the musical diversity of an incredibly div! erse group of
musicians. It is an album with plenty of immediate appeal, though its
musical complexity and lyrical provenance should provide listening pleasure
for some time to come.
JohnStone has supported international acts such as Burning Spear (Winston
Rodney),Toots and the Maytals, The Itals, Third World, The Meditations and
Yellowman etc. and have been nominated in successive years to the Washington
Area Music Awards (WAMA) and the D.C. Annual Reggae Music Awards.
Innocent Children is available at: http://www.CDBABY.COM, ITUNES music

The U.K.'s English Beat Featuring Dave Wakeling Plus Eek-A-Mouse at the
Truckee Reggae Festival on Saturday, September 1.
Dave Wakeling and The English Beat also Eek-A-Mouse will be performing on
Saturday, September 1 at the Truckee Reggae Festival at the Truckee Regional
Park Amphitheater in Truckee, CA.
Dave Wakeling is a hell of a nice guy! Dave loves to tell you the stories
behind his songs, either from stage or after the show. Ask any one of the
thousands of fans who have met him over the years and that's what you'll
hear. Never mind that Dave is the singer/songwriter from two of the most
popular bands of the end of the millennium, The English Beat and General
Public, he's a stand up man from Brum. Whether it's the personal as
political in "How Can You Stand There", making politics personal in "Stand
Down Margaret", taking a stand against global warming as he did with
Greenpeace's "Alternative NRG", or helping little kids stand up proudly with
"Smile Train", Dave has always stood for something.
Like the mighty Redwoods of his adopted home of California, it's
been easy for Dave to take a stand because of his strong roots.
Hailing from working-class Birmingham, England, Dave and The English Beat
entered the music scene in the 1979. When The English Beat rushed on to the
music scene in 1979, it was a time of social, political and musical
upheaval. Into this storm came they came, trying to calm the waters with
their simple message of love and unity set to a great dance beat.
The band managed to fuse all of their respective musical influences - soul,
reggae, pop and punk - into a unique sound that was highly danceable. Along with contemporaries such as The Specials, The Selecter and Madness, The English Beat became one of the most popular and influential bands of the British Ska movement.
EEK-A-MOUSE
Outrageous, bizarre, and uniquely original, few DeeJays have made as much of
a splash in the dancehall scene as Eek-A-Mouse. Standing at 6'6" above
sea-level, Eek-A-Mouse has a commanding presence one cannot ignore. He's an
artist who has created a style all his own, utilizing reggae, rock and hip
hop rhythms to complement his sometimes humorous and sometimes very poignant
lyrics. Eek-A-Mouse is the originator and finest exponent of that particular
form of reggae which has become known as "sing-jay" where singing and
DeeJaying(rapping) work in and out through a song.
Born Ripton Hylton, Eek-A-Mouse grew up in Trench Town, which he calls 'the
first-class ghetto' of Kingston, Jamaica. His strange moniker is reflection
of his sense of humor and ability to laugh at himself and the world. A fan
of horseracing, he consistently lost money on a horse named "Eek-A-Mouse".
He finally gave up betting on the horse, which then promptly won! The name
stuck when in 1979, the Mouse decided to make music his full time career.
Now living "The American Dream," Eek-A-Mouse has embraced the world of hip
hop, rock and dancehall Reggae in his most experimental release to date,
"Mouse Gone Wild." Mouse says, "This is me. All my emotions, feelings and
perspective on life and the world as I see it. I¹m ready to get my freak on,
so hold on tight, it's gonna be an amazing ride."
