service you, our audience.

About the Organization WHAT is Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide?
Formed over a decade ago, Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide is the only
non-profit devoted to networking among Reggae enthusiasts and industry folk alike. Members hail from most nations.
The mission, broadly, is "to forward the Reggae vibe every time," which most members are already doing in their own ways.
Together, as an organization, we have the opportunity to express
ourselves in one voice: asserting our place on the musical scene, and
becoming our own vehicle for social change. To do so, we need strong new leadership.
The newly completed ByLaws make available a host of opportunities for
forward thinking team players to get involved and make Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (R.A.W.) become an ever-more effective and meaningful organization.

Right now, member Dub Station
(#1586) is featured on all 4 available song tracks, backing different
artists. But after a month or so, we'll be featuring other members on a
first come, first served basis. They must give us authorization to post
their music as well as decide whether they want listeners to be able to
download their songs or feature them on their personal pages.
We've used our Blog entries to supply all necessary information for
applicants interested in joining simply as members, or in order to run for
office in the Board of Directors.
This is an extraordinary new way for people to find out about R.A.W., and for
R.A.W. to reach out to new potential members & leaders, share it's vision with
the world at large. R.A.W. page on MySpace
ARTIST NEWS Poster above: special tribute night in honor of the King of
Reggae, on Columbus Day Sunday, October 7 at Bill's Bar Boston.
Although we've recently been collaborating with organizations AirPlay Direct and R.A.W., our longer-term focus has been on artists.
DUB STATION
, with
whom we've been working since the group's inception (in the early 90's), hit
quite a milestone this last weekend, when the mostly the newer (Frankie, Donny, Cameron, and Tom), and guest Jamaican members (including Rance &
Gibby, who worked a lot with Peter Tosh) performed twice in Kingston (a
career first) with the endorsement of internet telephone company Call the Planet (CTP
) and their performer-spokesperson ABIJAH
(which KRucial principal Kyle Russell manages, and with whom Dub Station toured extensively last year).
The occasions were on Friday (9/21/07): the pre-launch of Abijah's
newfangled "Swept Away" album, retitled "Moving 2 the Top," for which a
video has just been completed. In fact, the event was simply to have been the video launch, but ended up representing the launch of the whole album, which was covered by both the Jamaica Gleaner and the Jamaica Observer (one of which called the band "exciting"). A lot of press was there, Fatis 'Xterminator' Burrell was in the house, as were Edi Fitzroy and Tony Rebel.
Legend Ernie Smith performed a few songs with the band - the audience knew ALL the words (to "Duppy or a Gunman") - and someone said it was the best he'd heard Smith with a Stateside band. There was a reunion performance with singjay Sonbeam, who'd last recorded & performed with Dub Station 5 years
ago, and who made quite an impression. TOM O'BRIEN
did 3 songs, his lyrics were quoted by the papers, and Sean Paul's father complimented him: "you sound like Bob Marley - no, really - I knew Bob personally, and you DO sound like him." Comfitanya venue owner Ms. Brown was so impressed, she invited the band to return by year's end. She said: "we have good musicians here, but they're not as disciplined, and they don't have the same love for the music as you do."
The second show was at the National Arena (9/22/07), during the peak of the Consumer Electronics Show. Open to the public, about 1000 people were there, but their numbers were dwarfed by the entire audience,
which was all of Jamaica via live national television broadcast. The set was just a half hour, but made quite an impression for host company CTP, which was one of the exhibitors there. The stage had been specially expanded, a dedicated electronic system, and a full backline were brought in to accommodate Dub Station & Abijah, the only featured band that day.
Couple the above with great weather; good company; unparalleled (in their "anglo" experience) fish, dumplings, and other good food served up by Carlton (and the culinary crew at Comfitanya); as well as a steady flow of the superior Jamaican-brewed Red Stripe - and other domestic crops – made for a truly relaxing and satisfying visit, one to be repeated as soon as possible, and ideally with some recording thrown in, which time did not allow for this time. Now that the ice is broken, we can look forward to future opportunities and visits yet to be planned.
Our return is just in time to begin focusing on next moves for Abijah, Dub Station, Tom O'Brien, and newer artists we're representing, such as JUS GOODIE
(who toured with DS & Abijah last year), about to come off
the road with Everton Blender out West. A few other artists are about to get involved with our promotions, you'll learn of them soon. We plan shortly to add to our Newsletter offerings one dedicated to new music
from the artists we work with.

1>. New CD: MIKAL, "JUST BEING ME"
ARTIST: Mikal
ALBUM: Just Being Me
GENRE: Roots / Dancehall / Soca/Punta/Calypso / Culture
LABEL: New Beginnings Productions
COST: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Perhaps you didn't hear his solo debut "A New Beginning," or maybe you
missed his "Outta Belize" compilation, if so, this album demands your
attention. Returning with an ambitious sophomore set, artist/producer Mikal give us t;Just Being Me."
Just one listen to songs like "More" and "Good News" and it is clear that this is the best that Belize has to offer. As a front-runner on the Belizean gospel reggae scene, Mikal is setting the pace for the rest. He honestly sounds like no one else. I guess that's why he calls the album "Just Being
Me." And he does so in good company. This time around he brings in hired
guns like Monty G (Dead Already), Mr. Lynx (Good News), and DJ Counsellor
(Rock of My Life). Talk about an entourage! He even managed to hook
Nashville rapper Know Da Verbs on the album for the brilliantly produced
"Don't Give Up"--What a combination!
True to form in the Belizean gospel scene, the album colors outside the
genre of traditional gospel reggae (dancehall/roots/culture). On songs like
"Dust to Dust" (Feat. Singer Nuru) and "It Is Mine" (Feat. Supa G. Reckless,
Lady Indi & Sheldon), Mikal thr ows some Punta flavor into the mix with
tremendous results. For those who don't know what Punta is, it is a genre of
music indigenous to Belize derived in part from the Garifuna people. Punta
sounds like a hyper-percussive mix of soca, Latin and African music.
With three punta/soca tunes, four dancehall cuts, three raggamuffin Hip Hop
songs and five roots & culture tracks, Mikal delivers a well-rounded
production. While this CD may be diverse in sound, it is unified in purpose.
Let's face it, as a preacher's kid you HAVE TO know the Word and Mikal knows
it inside and out. This injects his songs with so much light that his
listeners are sure to grow in their knowledge of the Word.
Mikal has done it again with a veritable who's who of special guest
appearances by gospel reggae all-stars like Monty G, Sherwin Gardner, Mr.
Lynx, and DJ Counsellor. With crisp production and energetic songs of
substance, this album is unquestionably the best that Belize h as to offer
when it comes to Gospel Reggae. Expect a lot more from this guy and his
production house!
Avoiding the sophomore slump is something that most gospel reggae artists
struggle with, but in Mikal's case, he shines on his glowing second release
"Just Being Me" order your copy today. And while you are at it, check out
his "A New Beginning" debut and "Outta Belize" compilation and see what you missed!

2>. New CD: JUDY MOWATT, "LOVE"
ARTIST: Judy Mowatt
ALBUM: Love
GENRE: Roots / Caribbean Praise / Ska/Rocksteady
LABEL: Judy M Music
COST: $13.97
ALBUM DESCRIPTION:
Judy Mowatt has been called Jamaica's Queen of Soul. Since her conversion
from Rastafarianism to Christianity back in 1995, she has also earned the
title of "Jamaica's First Lady of Worship." You may be familiar with her
"Something Old, Something New" album, and her "Soldiers of Jesus Christ"
project, but years before she recorded these CDs, Judy tracked her infamous
"Love" CD. This is was her gospel debut, the first album that she tracked
after coming to Christ. After years of trying to attain this album through
various avenues we finally managed to get our hands on a few copies.
This album is full uplifting songs of inspiration. On "Love" you will find
sweet contemporary roots cuts like the contagious "Show Love", the heartfelt
"Gardener" and the classic "Thank You Lord" (originally made popular by the
Wa ilers). This album is chock full of covers such as the Judy's rocksteady
take on The Byrds' "Turn, Turn, Turn" and her niyabinghi interpretation of
the gospel classic "Oh Happy Day".
Judy even delves into some urban beats with a hip-hop take on the classic
Spinners song "Ooh Child" and the dancehallesque "Ordinary Servant"
(initially made famous by Regina Wingate). Judy brought in a heavy hitter
for "I Want to Thank You", featuring the one and only Papa San. No album by
First Lady of Worship would be complete without songs of Caribbean praise
and worship such as "Standing in the Gap" and "Lamb of God."
Let's face it; Judy Mowatt is a living legend. She is one of Bob Marley's
original backup singers (the I-Threes), was the first woman ever to be
nominated for a Reggae Grammy Award--And those are just two highlights of a
long and successful career. But this is just the beginning for Jud y, now
that she has a reason to sing there is a newfound passion and purpose in
every single vocal. And Judy's silky voice seems to have gotten better with
age. Her anointed and heartfelt vocals soothe the ears and comfort the soul.
The "Love" CD is Judy's gospel debut, an album that cannot be overlooked.
With 10 quality tracks and 4 bonus cuts it is a great project that is sure
to bless your soul. Order your copy today!

Rogers is both a sensational and a sensitive blues guitarist - certainly among the finest slide guitarists playing today. - San Francisco Chronicle
Roy Rogers is one of the premier slide guitarists performing today. With eight solo recordings, he has also been nominated for two Grammy Awards (and 6 Grammy credits as the producer of John Lee Hooker and Ramblin' Jack Elliott releases.) Rogers' ability to electrify and move audiences to their feet is well known. He loves to perform and it shows, often with The Delta Rhythm Kings. Nominated for Best Blues Guitarist by the W.C. Handy's in 2003, his virtuosity and style of slide guitar has been recognized worldwide and acknowledged in such publications as Rolling Stone, USA Today, Billboard,
Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar and Guitar & Bass magazine.
Rogers is an exceptionally articulate slide guitarist . . . One of the rare guitar heroes who values feeling over flash. - Rolling Stone A native Californian, he was born in 1950 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He started playing guitar at age 12 and was exposed to a wealth of music styles, most notably the blues, which became his passion - especially the Delta Blues (Robert Johnson) and slide guitar. Since his first recording in 1976, he has become one of the finest practitioners and innovators of modern slide guitar.
The press has plenty to say: Pundits who bemoan the scarcity of guitar gods haven't laid ears on Roy Rogers, whose slide riffs could peel a c.fish. –
