Tickets are now on sale for The Annual Ragga Muffins Festival in San Francisco, CA on Saturday, February 23 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 3pm. This annual, all-ages event is just one in a series of festivals which include Long Beach (February 16 and 17) and Santa Cruz (February 22). An international arts and crafts marketplace plus food vendors complete the festival atmosphere and offer fun for the whole family. The line-up includes top international artists who exemplify the Reggae spirit that Bob Marley championed: Alpha Blondy, Barrington Levy, Anthony B, Midnite, Gentleman, Gregory Isaacs, Soul Majestic, The Aggrolites plus Massive Sound International featuring DJ's Robert Rankin & Spliff Skankin (line-up is subject to change and not necessarily in this order.) -Alpha Blondy concludes the festivities with his 12-piece band Solar System. He is among the world's most popular Reggae artists and offers a Reggae beat with a distinctive African cast. Calling himself an African Rasta, Alpha Blondy creates Jah-centered anthems promoting morality, love, peace and social consciousness. -Barrington Levy has been well recognized in Reggae circles since his early recordings. Always a solid voice and an expressive vocalist, Barrington has been able to stay consistently poised in the dancehall as one of Reggae's most requested vocalist. -Anthony B embodies all that it is spiritual and proactive about Reggae music and has been steadfast in his mission to represent the poor and oppressed, using sharp lyrics to confront political injustices and bring the issues of the people to the forefront. -Hailing from the Island of St Croix, Midnite is one of the most promising roots-Reggae bands of the millennium - vanguards of conscious reggae whose profound and innovative lyrics are sincere and deeply rooted. -Gentleman sings about love, tolerance and respect and lives this ideal wholeheartedly with his own personality. His three studio albums reflect an enormous artistic development, during which he grew to becoming the internationally best-known German Reggae musician. -Gregory Isaacs ranks as one of the true superstars of Reggae music with a career that spans three decades and legions of loyal fans worldwide. -Soul Majestic¹s modern take fuses Caribbean style Reggae rhythms with an array of other influences including rock, hip hop, soul/R&B, world, jazz and folk. The Aggrolites are a group of five L.A. musicians who mix old school reggae with rock, soul and funk, heavily influenced by The Meters, James Brown and Wilson Pickett. Their sound is a thick blend of rhythm and melody, seasoned by years of love. The result is the infectious sound called "dirty reggae." This year's festival continues the tradition of honoring Bob Marley, one of the greatest champions of human rights and world peace. "Press Release"......We R Back ONLINE!!! Date: Friday, February 08, 2008 3:57 AM From Ras Indio Ras Indio's 2007 "FIRE" Tour The FIRE continues... 2007 was another outstanding year for the award winning Belizean Reggae Artist Ras Indio. He again represented Belize performing on stages all across the United States and Canada. The FIRE Tour ignited on May 17th at the Malcolm X Festival. It was held at the Audubon Middle School in Los Angeles, California, where Ras Indio gave a blazing performance with the Wadada Band. Ras Indio then headed to Las Vegas, Nevada to add his Belizean heat to the already blazing "Reggae in the Desert" which also featured: The Wailers, Third World, Don Carlos & The Itals. At this festival on June 16th in a schorching 106 degrees, Ras Indio lit up the stage with the 420 Daze Band. This show was recorded and is available for purchase. Check myspace.com/rasindio for more details. As 1 fan stated.... 'For real my brother, you Guys blew up Las Vegas @ the Reggae in the Desert. No 1 else came out to chill with the people like you did my brother, that was real cool of you. Plus, you remembered us from when I wrote to you on myspace, Kristina couldn't believe it. By the way...We will be hoping to see you guys again next year. 1 LOVE, Peace & Unity My Bro. Brent The FIRE continued to blaze towards Utah, where Ras Indio linked up with the Dub Shack Band for 2 shows. The first was on June 30th in Murray, Utah at the Huka Reggae Bar/Club, and the second was on July 2nd in Salt Lake City at 'Club Monks'. We give thanks to Bronte, DJ Rebel & Ras Otis, as this was the first time any Belizean Artist had ever performed at the most popular Reggae club in Salt Lake City, Utah. On July 22nd the FIRE Tour landed in Toronto, Canada for RASTAFEST 2007, Ras Indio performed along with Tony Rebel, Mutabaruka, Queen Ifrica and many others courtesy of Masani Productions. This festival has already re-booked Ras Indio for July 19th, 2008. In route to Seattle, the Tour was diverted to Eugene, Oregon where Ras Indio made a special appearance at the North/West World Reggae-Festival. Luciano, Ky-Mani Marley, Pato Banton just to name a few, were among the many artists set to perform at Oregon's biggest reggae festival on August 10th, 11th, and 12th. He then proceeded to Seattle, Washington for two scheduled performances. The first was on August 15th where he hosted the Culture Yard concert featuring Sly & Robbie, Horace Andy and Cherine Anderson. Clips of this show can be seen at Youtube.com/rasindio. The second was on August 22nd at the Chop Suey Night Club where Ras Indio opened for Reggae Legends ''The Meditations". The FIRE Tour then headed over the Canadian Border once again, this time in the Kootneys of beautiful British Columbia. He then got a special invitation to go back to Seattle to perform on August 30th at the Nectar Lounge. The final performance was on September 9th at The Highlands in Hollywood California. In front of a pulsating and vibrant crowd Ras Indio took the sate as the opening act for the late great Lucky Dube. May He Rest in Peace. This is in itself an impressive achievement, but if Seefari took as hands-on an approach with his previous releases as he did with this one, his track record is all the more astounding. One look at the liner notes reveals his Prince-like control over all aspects of the album -- including writing, producing, engineering, lead and backing vocals, and every single instrument. Rasta Italist is a pensive and heartfelt album that harkens back to the '70s Golden Age of roots reggae. Coupled with Seefari's righteous lyrics and humble, unassuming vocals, it draws favorable comparison to Pablo Moses ' best work. Highlights include "1 Love Not 2 Hate," "Pray Every Day," "No More War," and the title track. ReggaeReviews.com Burbank California Nouvelle sensation roots reggae sur la scène internationale. Seefari fait indéniablement partie de ces jeunes artistes qui émergent sur le haut du panier. Tant mieux ! En attendant d¹espérer le voir sur une de nos scènes européennes, on peut toujours se procurer cet album via le net. BALDACCHINO Salvatore Reggae Connection - Belgium translation "New roots reggae sensation on the international scene SEEFARI is undeniably one of these young artists emerging on the top of the basket. So much the better! We hope to see SEEFARI on one of our European scenes. In the meantime we can always obtain this album via the net." BALDACCHINO Salvatore Reggaeconnection radio - Belgium Seefari - Rasta Italist Tom "Seefari" Carroll is a foundational player in the Midwestern US reggae scene. He not only wrote, produced and sang these 15 trax , but he also played every instrument on this cd. Complimenting Seefari on these eleven songs and four dub versions is I Jah Melody's angelic high vocal harmonies. A plea for peace in "No War" mixes lead guitar lines with harmonica giving a blues rock flavor to the steady one drop. Rasta spirituality pours out of the reminder to "Pray Every Day" as well as the tribute to Jah on "Beautiful Majesty." The title track shows appreciation for the natural herbs and "Wizzy Wisemind" is a sweet take on the love story of Solomon and Sheba from the old testament. This whole cd has a cohesive American roots rock natural vibe to it. The disc doesn't always have that glossy polish of big budget productions, but the heart and soul behind it makes up for that.
