Some tunes are radio hit stand-outs. We¹re all looking for just goodies, and Jus Goodie delivers. A native of Detroit, Justin Goodman (as he was born) was steeped in the Motown tradition. Being of the younger generation, he's also absorbed R&B and Hip Hop vibes, which turn up expertly on his first recording ³Freedom Song,² which was released collaboratively with the ZionWay label. Other featured songs are straight-ahead Reggae: well-written, uptempo, conscious lyrics that showcase Goodie's fiery but pure-hearted energy. Jus Goodie will be re-releasing his first LP with fresh promotion, as many more ears will be hearing what he's got to offer. Rhythm out-takes and singles are all planned, along with the development and integration of Goodie¹s new production efforts with multi-instrumentalist, and talented producer Ben Krames. Krames recently returned from touring extensively with the Groundation band, and has also just released a compilation entitled Bolistik, featuring Yami Bolo, Junior Reid, and Lutan Fyah (among others). As Goodie keeps to his Reggae roots, he is also exploring letting go of them simultaneously, and finding a new musical common ground, somewhere between Kingston and that better America (or even world) so many are longing for right about now. Jus Goodie was bit by the Reggae bug when he made a life changing trip to Jamaica at the age of 14. As a budding musician, he adopted the Jamaican vocal stylings and command of the stage that the top Caribbean artists wield effortlessly. He¹s a wicked MC and a superb guitarist. He's road managed and backed some key names in the business - including Sugar Minott - who featured Goodie at his own OReggae in the Hills¹ festival, which takes place in Jamaica. Others include Everton Blender, Junior Toots, Abijah & Dub Station. Opening stints have spanned acts like Luciano and Sizzla, Damien Marley and Anthony B, Gregory Isaacs, and many more. Touring as a headliner has taken Jus Goodie up to the Midwest - up and down the West Coast - and out to Hawaii. He's taken the stage at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Monterey Bay, the Calgary Reggae Festival, and was brought up by Matisyahu to sing with him at Reggae on the Rocks. Jus Goodie is a well-seasoned performer, ready for any stage or audience. In the realization of a long-standing wish to bring him out to Boston for his first East Coast appearance, Jus Goodie will be teaming up again with Dub Station to deliver his own full set at the Memorial Day Sunday bash at Bill's Bar, which will also to feature the return of Abijah to the American stage. Other dates are planned as Jus Goodie and KRucial Reggae roll out the next phase of Goodie¹s career, to feature renewed attention to existing recordings, a concerted international PR effort, and the crafting of a new set of recordings. Broad-ranging and diverse as a studio talent; stunning as a singjay onstage; and armed with a secret weapon of superior harmonies make Jus Goodie one of America¹s great talents to watch in the Reggae and crossover markets. visit JusGoodie.com Jungle Shack Ben Krames - producer at large Ben Krames hand picks the projects he develops from his idyllic getaway, state-of-the-art: Jungle Shack studios (outside San Francisco). Known for his expertise in tracking, mixing, and vocal production, he's given dozens of artists the edge they need to stand out at a time when everyone and their brother thinks of themselves as producers. What Ben's looking for, is artists who are ready to take their recordings to the next level; aren't afraid to invest in themselves; and won't settle for anything but the best. A graduate of Berklee College of music, Ben studied with some of the world¹s finest percussionists, including Giovanni Hidalgo. He took his musical education to the island of Cuba, and back to his native California, at UC - Santa Cruz. A multi-instrumentalist, Krames can build or advise on the creation of every track imaginable. Even remotely, interstate production has never been easier with the Internet. Krames keeps his fingers on the pulse of the latest technology, bringing to bear all his talents for the benefit of his clients. Enter Jus Goodie, who after traveling on tour with Krames recently - was able to reinvent his own style - with Krames - most notably in the first track they¹ve tackled: ³Watch Over Me.² Ben¹s mastery of multiple genres enabled him to bring the artist¹s talent into relief, producing a new sound - at once more R&B inflected, and straight ahead ³crossover² - than anything Goodie¹s recorded previously. After a year on the road with Groundation, and having recently produced the Bolistik compilation CD with the likes of Yami Bolo, Junior Reid, and Lutan Fyah, Ben¹s still very connected to the roots vibration, and is invested in Goodie's keeping in touch with his own reggae soul. Other Reggae artists with whom Ben Krames has played and/or recorded with, include Winston Jarrett, Sister Carol, Everton Blender, Mikey Dread (rip), Don Carlos, Wadi Gad, Rocker T, Ras Attitude, and many more. Beyond Reggae, Krames' partial list of clients includes Latin and Hip Hop heavy-weights such as Grammy winner David Sanchez and Orestes Vilato (of Santana); platinum-selling Dwayne Wiggins (producer of Destiny's Child and member of Tony Toni Tone); Kev Choice (Lauren Hill's current music director); and Nzinga Shakur (Tupac's sister). Print advertising's a funny thing, you don't always see the benefit, or reward of it, but at the same time, you know your works are being seen by a good number of the 100,000-odd readers the publication is bound to receive. What we're trying to convey is that we're respresenting a community of artists - soon (hopefully) to be represented in a unique radio broadcast - which although individually unique, all share the manifestation of some deeper truth from the Reggae source. The melding of music and theory is harmonious, with high quality production, and sincere delivery. KRucial Reggae promotions We are in the business of connecting Artists & Audiences. Jus Goodie's AirPlay Direct audio-booking-radio-press DPK Jus Goodie first East Coast appearance, alongside Abijah - Memorial Day Sunday - May 25 Jus Goodie toured the Midwest, Colorado, the entire West Coast, and Hawaii with Abijah. Dub Station backed them both on their journeys, and as well at the Calgary Reggae Festival (and Monterey Festival). Knowing the audience back East, KRucial Reggae invited Jus Goodie to join the band - and Abijah (coming up from Jamaica) - for what promises to be one of their bigger promotions this year: Memorial Day Sunday - 5/25 - at the legendary Bill's Bar Boston. If you haven't seen either of them live, be advised that Jus Goodie and Abijah are 2 of the most dynamic Artists on stage - delivering over 2 hours of music - and spanning in styles from ballads & roots anthems to R&B and Dancehall, all delivered at high energy, but never with profanity or disrespect. It's nice to see a roots and culture artists pack the place! So many shows have been going off in the wrong venues - to tracks (no band), for too much money at the door - and it's hurting the business. Let this night be a step in the right direction, musically, socially, spiritually. This one's worth the trip for anyone in New England - it's in 3 Sundays (May 25) - and there's no work Monday. Special guest Roberto Gell will be playing guitar. A headliner in his own right, he may open the night, and will be bringing his own band to the Montreal Reggae Festival in July (and to Bill's Bar July 6th). The increasingly popular female selectors' Luv Bug Movements will be spinning before and between sets, and are themselves performing in Jamaica at the Rising Sun Festival in June. What is news is that we're hoping to relaunch this summer with a similar look, but many more robust features. For starters, the store will be more functional, there will be banners when you open it up, and we'll be able to switch out songs in the Audio Player and videos in the Video Player.
